Is a 12" domed false bottom enough for 30 gallons?

I can get a generic 30 gallon stainless mash pot for cheap, but then what to do about a false bottom. Being in Canada, shipping and duty are big costs, often more than the custom false bottoms themselves... but I can get a 12" domed one, with a 1/2" dome height cheaply. Anyone know of a...

Double IPAs: importance of all-grain vs extract

I do an annual mega IIIPA with a 6 hour boil and full grain.... but for most IIPAs I either just take the first running, or add some DME to bump up the OG... really cutts down on the time required. I also tend to throw in some melanoidan malt in the faster batches.

While an eclectic group, there's an awful lot of smart people on here. Welders and engineers galore, profs, culinary people, military, lawyers, students: brewers all. I dabble in a bunch of things and am a researcher / data-analysis dude.

Why brew? A moment for reflection

I started kit brewing because I couldn't afford normal beer I started partial mash brewing because I wanted something that tasted better that was still cheap I started all-grain brewing because I wanted 'the good beer', and as a side benefit, it was even cheaper than kit brewing. Cost no longer...

    Am I a homebrewer? NO!

'home brewer' in my area usually means a kit-in-a-can brewer. Most all-grain brewers I know call themselves 'craft beer people'

Your cost of producing your favorite recipe $

In my area, ordering in bulk, ingredient cost is under $20 for most styles for 5 gallons. Over the top IIPA's can cost a lot more though.

Totally overwhelmed and need help! Please.

P-J's diagrams and Kal's theelectricbrewery.com website are beautifully laid out, with very thorough lay-text descriptions of how to build a simple or complex control panel. Auber parts are at a premium, yes, but they are good quality and have become the standard for e-brewing. There's nothing...
