    30 minute hop additions?

I enjoyed the days of 60/30/20/5/FO. Seemed so simple. The last IPA I made had a good 60, small FO, large whirlpool at 165⁰ for 20 minutes, and 2 dry hops. This is what I assume makes sense nowadays now that we know more about what happens to hops at various temperatures.

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

Got my email from Spike that it's about to ship and I just now ordered some ultraflo max. Gonna try the recommended .035" crush for my first brew and it's gonna be a german pilsner. So excited

    Electric setup

I meant just two separate elements on two different circuits/outlets altogether. Only one of them being PID controlled (as you'd only need one on a PID)

    Electric setup

I've been brewing 240v the last couple years and have another 240v system otw (spike solo) but I actually am kinda surprised there aren't more builds with 2 120v elements. (One pid controlled and one on/off). The dual 120v seems like it'd satisfy those who don't wanna mess with 240v and wanna...

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

Has anyone experimented with a coarser crush yet? Just for kicks I went back and looked at what Unibrau recommended for their setup, which is similar imo, and they say .039-.045 AND they claim it leads to higher efficiency due to better flow. I know I can just find out on my own, but my solo...

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

I was gonna go ahead and order this today and then they have a "warning" that it's only to be ordered for commercial brewing. Also they ship overnight UPS and those MFers have messed up overnight deliveries for me before. What's the deal?

    Glycol chiller or fridge ?

I only have one fermenter and use an upright freezer which could fit a conical. It's great. I thought I would definitely NOT want another fermenter, but lately I've found myself wanting another one....

    stainless steel sinks

I have that same sink with a drainboard on the left side. I'm not sure if it's the same actual manufacturer, but it's the same measurements. I have 5 gallons of star san in the left side every brew day. (I have NO IDEA why so many guys are worried about star san cost- it's SO cheap!) I've...

What I did for beer today

I've never had any luck using more than 3 or maybe 4 different hops max. Hope it turns out well. I dry hopped my golden promise/rye west coast ipa today. Love being able to do o2 free dry hops. Gonna do another in 3 days.

    All in one home setup

Ordered mine a week ago. From what I've read it's not that hard to avoid. I plan to mill at suggested setting, dough in and stir it up well, turn off pump/heat and let sit for 5-10 minutes, and recirculate with a blichmann auto sparge. I also plan to split the flow between whirlpool and sparge...

I like spikes basket more than bags or the ss mesh basket on the clawhammer. I also don't care for clawhammers controller

I ended up ordering a 15 gallon solo to make 6 gallon batches. It seemed like the highest quality and is all non proprietary pieces.

    Shoutout to everyone’s favorite LHBS

Is that 2 120v elements? All weldless? How do you like brewing on it?

What came in the mail for you today?

Dieletric grease and a spare L630 plug end as I've seen many people burn these up.
