Leak in spigot on new brew bucket

Maybe I'll do the same thing. I like the bucket but I'm disappointed in the racking arm. It's not a solid fit. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Leak in spigot on new brew bucket

Thanks. I decided to scrub up, sanitize and reach in. I was able to tighten it up a bit so I'm hoping that did the trick. I cleaned up the bottom of the chest freezer and I'll check it in the morning. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Any reason to siphon it? Or just dump it? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Leak in spigot on new brew bucket

Bummed to discover a leak from the seal of the racking cane of my new SS brew bucket. Wort's been in the bucket for 56 hours. So rack it to a spare pail? Clean it up and don't worry about it? Reach my hand in there and tighten it? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Did I dry out my malty beer?

I like your answer, thanks! I did notice the FG didn't change when I made the adjustment (adding corn sugar) in Beersmith. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Did I dry out my malty beer?

I think I know the answer but just wanted confirmation. At the last minute I added 1 lb of corn sugar to the recipe below to up the ABV and because the corn sugar was sitting around. Now I think I defeated the purpose of this malty beer by drying it out. Thoughts? All-Grain - Raging Red...

    Corn Sugar in IIPA

I'm going with your advice. I'm assuming Beersmith auto-catorigorized the sugar so I'll be adding it to the boil. Not sure why they adjusted the crystal malt and carapils but I've already committed to this version. I got the recipe from an experienced brewer who says it's a great recipe so we...

    Corn Sugar in IIPA

I found the clone he was referencing and it calls for 1 lb of sugar. Add two more lbs must be how he bumped up the ABV. Looking at this recipe, when does it call for the sugar to be added? liny the Elder clone (Russian River Brewing Co.) (5 gallons/19 L, all-grain) OG = 1.074 FG =...

    Corn Sugar in IIPA

Those were the brewer's notes. I noticed that too but because he did a winky face, I assumed he was pleased with his decision. Not sure if that meant he originally had 1 lb of sugar.

    Corn Sugar in IIPA

You've pretty much summed up my thoughts. And quoting Pink Floyd is a nice touch. I've posted the recipe. I have all the ingredients and I'm ready to go.

    Corn Sugar in IIPA

I'm brewing an AG Imperial IPA tomorrow and the recipe says 3 lbs of corn sugar as a mash addition. Seems really odd. I'm a new brewer but I've added corn sugar as an "alcohol boost" before but always with 15 minutes left in the boil. I've searched and searched and can't find anything about...

Want to brew something for Christmas now

Anyone have any ideas for something to brew (AG) now to give as gifts for Christmas? I'd like to do something that would benefit from aging for 6 months like maybe a stout. But something "Christmas-y" would be nice. Thinking about making labels and having the bottles look presentable rather...

    Gypsum

I've read a bit and talked to an experienced brewer and noticed lactic acid was a common addition to control mash pH. Any thoughts on that? I understand everything depends on your current water profile and your target water profile but I was wondering if you've had experience with lactic acid.
