Frogman, Did you ferment in a secondary? If so, how long? A site that I will be getting my kit from, a guy said he fermented in a secondary for 2 months, and it turned out amazing. Thoughts?

    Wheat Beer ideas?

Rev. I appreciate the feed back. Do you brew in carboys? I get the impression that you monitor the fermentation precess. I am not really sure how to do this since I ferment in buckets. What do you think? P.S. I thought that Hefe's and Wit's were the same thing basically. Is there a...

Stange fermentation result with my Bock..

Ok. Thanks. I was freaked out and thought I created some creature. It almost got shot. Next time, if that happens should i remove the airlock and clean it, then replace it with new water, or just dont touch it at all?

Stange fermentation result with my Bock..

I recently made my fourth batch of beer which was a Bock. The recipe was just DME and hops basically. I followed the directions to the T and all seemed as if it was going great. About 3 days later during the fermentation process, I looked at it and found that a thick foam like substance had...

    Mead problems please help!!!

I felt the same way about the recipe. I felt it was horribly written and didn't offer any OG readings to base mine off of. What do you mean "to top up with"?

Absolutely, I knew the honey added about a gallon of volume. I was just worried when it said a 5gal batch, and so far even after tranfering to my secondary, I am still at approximately 6gal. Thank you Onihige, from what you said, I can now tell that I have been reading my hydrometer...
