    Thanks guys. I was going to flare the copper so I could rotate the copper tubing inside the ss fitting which would screw into my ss 1/2" coupler on the inside of my sanke keg. I think I'm going to make it all out of copper and just connect the two pieces with a piece of silicone tubing for now...

    Good advice. Brew a few dozen beers and get your process down. Add one new thing to your process once you can repeat your process.

    A soldering torch kit should be less than $20 and it's really easy. Sand the copper till it's shiny. Put some flux on the parts. Assemble the parts. Heat the joint and touch solder on the seams. The solder will get sucked in and seal the joint.

    Should I be using a starter?

    I use www.mrmalty.com pitching calculator for the amount of yeast to pitch. I pitch vials directly, make starters, and use washed yeast depending on the beer gravity I'm making.

    My water supply lists Alkalinity 36 mg/L. So my Bicarbonate = 36 x 1.22 = 43.92 ? That's a nice little tool - brewers friend...

    The spreadsheet has a dropdown list for measuring alkalinity: 1: Bicarbonate (ppm) 2: Alkalinity as CaCO3 Neither are listed on my local report.
