Awesome deal on LME! but a few questions

I got that. What I was saying was if I bought ten 3.3lb containers (33lb worth) it would cost me roughly $110.

Awesome deal on LME! but a few questions

It says 33lbs@$44. What am I missing? A 3.3lb container is usually around $11 near me. So is that really a savings of $66?

So you reduced the amount of chocolate to 8oz (66% less then what the kit calls for). And if you brewed it again, you'd up it to 12oz. I'm curious why you didn't just use the amount the kit recommends for both the coffee and chocolate additions?

Can you recommend an oxygenation setup for < $100 budget?

Is thinking about doing something similar, but putting the stainless steel rod, or copper in your case directly into the plastic tubing. Anyone see any unforseen problems with this idea?

Can I learn from your mistakes?

^ This. My first five batches fermented without a swamp cooler and suffered because of too high ferm temps. My most recent beer came out clean and without any "house flavor" that my previous attempts all had.

    Fermentation temperature variation

Did you rehydrate your yeast? What form of aeration did you use prior to pitching?

    Fermentation not finishing

How did you aerate prior to pitching? Low amounts of O2 can cause a fermentation to stall.

Winter Seasonal Beer Great Lakes Christmas Ale Clone

My main concern is how the hop schedules differ. The AG version has only two additions, Cascade at 60min and Hallertau at 10min. The extract version has the aroma and bittering hops flip flopped and also has two extra additions of Cascade. The extract version also incorporates Crystal 60L and...

Winter Seasonal Beer Great Lakes Christmas Ale Clone

Can anyone assist us extract brewers and confirm that the conversion on page2 is still accurate and not in need of any updating? I've seen little in the way of replies by those brewing the extract recipe and want to make the best version possible.

    No Activity....24 hours later

Brewed on Saturday and pitched at around noon. Used O2 aeration for the first time as well as a swamp cooler for controlling ferm temps in low 60s. I saw nothing for two days. I was freaking out. Then, at 10pm on Monday, sixty hours after initial pitching, she started up and blew krausen out...

Siphoning without racking cane or autosiphon

I'd buy an auto-siphon online if you don't have a LHBS. They're $8. Why risk spilling or worse, infecting gallons of beer you've waited patiently to ferment?
