Should I make a really old extract kit...

I like the idea, but I think I'll just make a good stout and tell him that old kit wasn't worth a damn. He just wants good beer; he doesn't care where it comes from...

Should I make a really old extract kit...

So, I'm visiting with my dad the other day...you know, talking about my my obsession...er...hobby and the milk stout I made for St Pat's. :mug: Anyway, he says, "you know I think I have something I'd like you to make me"...he disappears for 10 minutes and returns with a box. It's a Brewer's...

How long will a beer kit last?

2 years? That's not so bad. My dad just gave me a kit the other day and asked me to brew it for him... I opened it to find this antique: Brewer's Best Irish Stout Kit I'm half-tempted to do it, too...

Anyway, I've got this routine down...pull out the nitro widget with some needle nose, and xacto the heat-shrink label off. I've done this with about a case and a half...

    Liquid Yeast Starter

Since you're only doing all-grain, make your own wort for the starter! You don't need DME for a starter...any pale hopless wort at 1.040 SG would do. You just need some pale 2-row. It's the exact same thing as what you'd make with DME, just a little more time invested. It's probably more...

    Opinions on Midwest's Hank's Hefeweizen

I'm brewing it tomorrow with the WLP300 and fermenting in a 6.5 gal bucket for primary and potentially a 6 gal better bottle for secondary (if I need to free up the primary for a St Pat's stout). I'm not sure about how the flavor will turn out, but I'm definitely looking for the same...
