Set up a little stock for extract brews

Sure they ship. But you absolutely correct - shipping prices are not much reasonable if I order a little (unfortunately I am not ready to pay 16 GBP shipping for 25 GBP overall stuff). Besides it usually takes 7-10 days here from putting an order till get package delivered. If I order more...

Set up a little stock for extract brews

It is Scotland, Highlands, very North. Feel my pain ;) It is going to be roughly 6-7 batches in 6 months. Yeah, but anyway 12-14 LME tins take a little less room than kh54s10's stock ;)

Set up a little stock for extract brews

I tried that couple of times. To me it was very hard to fit into certain IBU I mean to predict the final IBU doing a hop tea. Making a proven recipe it was ok (someone before passed all the test steps then ;) ), but next time I tried to develop my own and it turned out to be a "megabitter"...

Set up a little stock for extract brews

You most likely forgot about possibility to use a prehopped kits as a base? ;)

Set up a little stock for extract brews

Yes, sir! :) Thanks, sir! :) Not at all, sir! :) I guess using dme/lme not many ppl really need to boil more than one galon. It is usually pretty enough for either steeping grains or hopping experiments. Topping up to 5-6 gals I am usually doing with a spring water directly into fermenter...

Set up a little stock for extract brews

;) Thats why I told about extract. No mash tun, chiller, gas burner, several pots including 7gal one etc... Just 1 gal traditional kitchen pot (serving also in "non-brewing" life) and 7 gal fermenter. ;) Cheers, mate!

Set up a little stock for extract brews

Hi folks, I am moving a bit away from nearest LHBS, so decided to setup a little goods stock at home to avoid rushing for every single hop pack to the shop. If I could brew alone for half an year or a bit more (5-6 gals every 3-4 weeks) without need to visit store it would be fine. I...

    What to brew while warm?

Hi folks, Suppose I don't have a ferm chamber and ambient temp in the room where fermentor is all the day at about 23-25C (73-77F). It won't last long but anyway, I have it during about 2 months. What you'd recommend to brew while this period? I aready have a batch of saison ongoing...

    Thomas Coopers IPA Tin

Please note those Coopers cans are pre-hopped. So while getting gravity right by cutting a volume you also at the same time will increase IBU. And IPA kit is not that has lack of bitterness there, so just be aware of it ;)

    Gose lacking any sourness

There is also coriander which has to bring some sourness as well. Didnt you forget to add it? ;)

    Bottled Beer Into Secondary??

If I were you, I'd use 5l minikeg + partytap+co2 to fix that beer on the fly. Of course if there the only no carb was a problem. Starting over just to get co2 into it is a bit overkill to me. Cheers! :mug:

How to "de-gas" sample to get proper SG readings?

G'day all, Subject says all: is there any wellknown way to "de-gas" a sample before getting sg readings? All I tried so far is just let the sample to sit in jar for 10-15 minutes, but that did not help much. Thanks in advance!

    Kit brew weirdness. Yeast assassin?

Yep, might be so. I've never tried such trick myself. The most advanced rescue I did once was repitching yeast into bottled beer because of lack of carbonation. I read somewhere people pitch the champagne yeast like lalvin-1118 to push from 1020. 1118 is a very aggressive and will ferment...

    Kit brew weirdness. Yeast assassin?

Hi Prostheta, Sorry to hear you have a problem with Wherry. I did it several times, last 3 months ago, and drinking it right now. Excellent smooth bitter. Last I kept at 22C, OG was 1.044, FG 1.011. Bottled after 2 weeks in primary. No problems with bottle carbonation. So your 1.014...

    What's your user name mean?

Mine has nothing common with what you are thinking of.... :cross: "Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental." :p

Head tastes more sharp than a beer?

Hi folks, May be a bit strange question, but i'm not a serious beer tasting expert , so.... If I take a sip of its head right after pouring a beer into glass - the head's taste sometimes very strong, sometimes even a bit unpleasant... Beer itself tastes great and if I give head to sit...

Tell me a Cherry Bock isn't a bad idea

I tried this commercial one couple a weeks ago https://www.klosterbrauerei.com/shop/Produkte/Kirsch-Bier/69 and I dunno.... i'd like it more if it would be just a bock. Cherry brought to it a strange side-flavor. Not my favorite :(

Fermentation: a timespan to keep temp steady low

Gday folks, In winter temp outside I was pretty ok to ferment lager in my garage, but now it seems summer is coming :) I don't have a ferm chamber built yet but want to use a swamp cooler for some time. My calcs show I could keep temp reasonable using it. But it takes... well... you know...
