    Oatmeal Stout Yooper's Oatmeal Stout

I love this stout. I have made it before and it is always great. This time I am substituting Roasted Barley for Black Barley. Not my choice--it's what the lhbs had in stock. Has anyone else tried this substitution and how was it? I would be ok with a "roastier" coffee flavor, but not an...

    Best beer ever.

I have had a great month, where lots of things have fallen into place for me. After three years of brewing, I now have temp. controlled fermentation and a four tap kegerator. Seriously, I just drank the best beer that I have ever made. If you are a new brewer, don't look at pots, or worry...

Do you dry hop in the primary or the secondary?

BassBeer--I just started kegging. Do you leave the hops in the keg or remove after a few days?

AHA Demographics - 2/3rds have been brewing since 2005?

There is probably a connection to Craft Beer popularity and therefore, price increase. I can make two cases for what some breweries charge for a growler.

Do you dry hop in the primary or the secondary?

What about cold crashing? Before or after dry hopping?

How much CO2 to carb kegs?

Oh, and the gauge is reading 500psi, I was just going by the green "Full" mark and the red "Refill" mark.

How much CO2 to carb kegs?

At 40*. The kegs (I have two attached together) are in the freezer. It hasn't dropped much. But it definitely dropped. Maybe just being paranoid; I just didn't know what to expect. I didn't think about the o-rings, though. Like I said, first time using kegs.

How much CO2 to carb kegs?

I am totally new to kegging. So, I just finished building my keezer and put two kegs of beer in it this weekend and set it to 15 psi to start carbing. After about 3 days, I dropped it to 10 psi. The problem is that my tank pressure guage is steadily dropping. I have checked every connection...

Electric Fermentation Heater vs. Brew Belt

I use a $12 space heater (about 6-8 inches away from fermenter) and a Johnson Control unit. Works perfectly in a cold garage.

    Where are you at INDIANA

I'm in Culver. Has anyone tried Evil Czech? Kind of cool to have a brew pub in such a small town.

    Hello from Culver, IN

I just moved to Culver from the Bluegrass State and I looking forward to brewing in the cold, northern IN winters. I am an all-grain brewer who is ready to build a keezer as my next project!

Stand configuration help - Two tier options vs single tier

I use a three tiered system but I always thought that if I had a pump and went to two tiered stand I would want HLT above the other two vessels. My logic is that with this set up you could use the pump to recirculate the mash (instead of catching the first wort in a pitcher) then move the hose...

    More Buckets or a Carboy?

I thought the purpose the carboys as a secondary is so that you can "see" when your beer is clear vs. just following a schedule. I like to watch as all the stuff settles to the bottom.
