Keg Fermenter - IPA - when to dry hop before fermentation is complete?

This was a good explanation! Put about 4 PSI on the gas post and opened the PRV, let it roll for about 10 seconds. Popped open the lid and dumped the hops (pellet, no bag, I've got a filter on the floating dip tube), CO2 pushing the whole time - noticed fermentation was still pretty active, a...

Keg Fermenter - IPA - when to dry hop before fermentation is complete?

Funny you mention... in my question above, Scott is the "others who've I've heard"... LOL Yup, read thru that just before my initial post... nice of him to toss all of Ch 7 online, I really should pick up that book. At 72hrs in my IPA is right at 1020, which is ~82% complete and still...

More beer or more brew days??!

Another vote for small(ish) batches. I keg ferment so it's always about 4-4.5gal max, sometimes less depending on the recipe. Brew day is 3-4 hrs including cleanup. Could almost do weekly, definitely every 2 weeks.

Keg Fermenter - IPA - when to dry hop before fermentation is complete?

Currently have a Summit Saga IPA homage fermenting in a corny keg in the ferm chamber, bubbling away (no spunding). I have a 1060 OG, heading for (hopefully) a 1011 FG. Currently at 1050 about 28hrs in. The recipe calls for a 3 day dry hop. I've heard others drop their dry hops very near, but...

Anyone using 6 Gal Torpedo Keg to ferment?

Was the trigger ever pulled? :D I just put in an order for one of these 23L (6.1gal) torpedo kegs last evening. Similar to you am using a floating dip tube and also have a spunding valve. I already ferment in 19L (5gal) cornys but wanted to get a full keg's worth of finished beer and looks...

    Anvil foundry 6.5 -> 10.5 conversion possible?

Consider MIAB... if you utilize a $20 igloo cooler + a brew bag... With a 6.5 kettle, even running at 240V you can easily produce 20L/5.3 gal into a fermenter i do it for every batch. Currently ferment in 5 gal corny kegs, so my final serving yield is 18L/4.76gal. Once the 23L/6.1gal...

Closed transfer from Corny keg to corny keg

I've just used a gas disconnect with a length of hose, even without the addition of FermCap, little if any blow off.

    Keg size for fermenting

3rd! Motion carried lol Its amazing how well a good, hard cold crash can clear beer. Fining makes it even better. I've been fermenting in kegs with the floating dip tubes, then transferring to a serving keg that has a regular dip tube and it worked very well. I have found that with a...

    Most overrated beer

Was thinking the exact same thing, I can't say it any better. Didn't realize it was 4 years on top of the Z list.

    Duotight ball disconnects - experiences?

I took it to mean they see this as a positive evolution to the standard MFL ball disconnects, not an upgrade to an existing duotight ball disconnect already on the market. My main interest was piqued as I have need to order additional ball disconnects one way or another, and I use 8mm OD...

    Duotight ball disconnects - experiences?

Did you subscribe at KL directly, or another vendor (state side?). I've only seen them listed on an Aussie (KL) and Canadian site, stock due in the next few weeks. The video was dated earlier this summer, didn't know if I'd missed the first release of product.

    Duotight ball disconnects - experiences?

The advantages that I can see are no need to have a duo/MFL adapter connected to a standard ball disconnect... one part rather than two. I have had luck (i.e. no ongoing issues or leaks) with EVAbarrier/duotight on both my gas and beer side, so this appealed with one less part/connection that...

    Duotight ball disconnects - experiences?

I need more beer & gas ball disconnects. All of my lines are 4mm EVABarrier, using duotight-to-1/4" MFL connected to standard ball disconnects. Since everything I have is duotight, these looked really interesting. I haven't seen them listed at US suppliers (yet), and wondered if anybody has...

Electric brew kettle recommendations for BIAB noob

I am an anvil foundry 6.5 owner, it's been good. here is how I weaved thru the dollar issue: I didn't have a propane option, nor a pot. So when I decided on an electric 6.5 gal kettle, it was because I did not have any hardware holding me to the gas, as it were. I ferment in 5 gal corny...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I brew with a 6.5 in my kitchen @ 240v, it would work in a basement with a dehumidifier no problem. I do 4.75gal batches and ferment in corny kegs, and the 240v is overkill. You boil a 22L batch at 70% (nice rolling), more vigorous at 80%. Any higher will cause a boil over. For smaller...

    Spunding question

In a word, yes. They do make red 35psi and green 65psi replacements for the gray 100+psi PRV on corny kegs. Normally the reds are used with Fermzilla or Fermentasaurus kit as the vessel is rated max ~35psi. Here's why I wouldn't recommend it: In theory you could utilize one of the red PRV as...
