    My new theory about efficiency

I don't know. Something had to be different. Don't know what, but something. I hit within 1 or 2% of 85% evertime unless I mess up and then I know why. Don't take that the wrong way. I'm not trying to say I'm better than you. Just saying I could see what could cause that...

SWMBO moving in and so it begins

I hear you bro!! SWMBO is my BFF! We have a lot of respect for each. At say time we obey each other. If I told her to jump of a cliff she would do it. Not because she must obey me, but because she knows that for what reason that's what needs to be done and it's what is best for both...

At what cell counts is starter most necessary?

Yeast count is one of those topics that most average brewers go ape crap about if it doesn't match their computer programs' exact numbers. Even the experts can't agree on exactly how much to pitch all the time. The idea is to try your best to get an appropriate number of good healthy yeast...

    Boosting my gravity

Brown sugar will work well with that. It will give you more ABV. The beer will be dryer but brown sugar will add some flavors that table sugar won't. Turbinado (Sugar in the raw) is 'sometimes' used in stouts and poters. You might try that.

Where to open a new LHBS

How big is the Homebrew community there? Edit to add: I noticed there was a club but is it active?

Where to open a new LHBS

It depends on how big u want to go. J B Carlson wants a min $10K in orders a year for most stores. Then you have your lease and upkeep. Fees for the licencing and such. All your displays coolers and so on. We planning $500K total capital for the startup for a full service LHBS. That...

Where to open a new LHBS

That is one place we've talked about. I haven't been in that area for almost 25 years. (Except driving through). I know Colorado Springs has a couple of good stores. That whole area, Denver to the Springs is a big Homebrew area. Thanks it might be worth a look.

Where to open a new LHBS

That's the main reason I'm leaning toward OK or TX. I was born and raised in OK. I was stationed there and TX for many years. I still have family in those areas. That's why I'm put feelers out that way. WA seems to be good but I don't know the area as well. BTW I like your ideas on...
