Born on the 4th of July

Congrats bud! My son is 2.5 and I miss the young baby phase. She's going to have an awesome bday every year for the rest of her life and she has you and her mom to thank for that!

    Lets start a tattoo thread!

California Free bottles local pickup only.

So I primarily keg and my wife is bugging me to cleanup the garage so I'm paring down my empty bottle collection. All bottles are delabeled and were soaked and cleaned in oxy, but they're dusty and could use a good rinse. 2 1/4 cases of brown 12oz bottles. 10 are longnecks, the rest shorts...

    Video Games

Just started 'The Last of Us' last night. The prologue blew me away and though I'm not to far in the game is pretty great so far.

Granted, I paraphrased, but this is the post that started my original response.

    Dogs

You're operating on the assumption that someone buying dog A from a breeder condemns dog B to death, which is a logical fallacy. Sure it increases the odds that another shelter/rescue dog will be euthanized but eliminating reputable breeders will never eliminate the risk of unwanted animals...

    Dogs

It's not critical that I have a Malinois (that's simply the breed I personally am looking for), nor do I think it's vital that anyone have a single specific breed. Even in working dogs there are a variety of breeds that can perform the same tasks when raised and trained to do so. My point...

    Dogs

If you changed that to "Responsible backyard breeder" I could probably agree with you. But some dogs, especially working dogs are almost impossible to find outside of a established reliable breeder. Most of those have a very in depth screening program as well as contract with the buyer that...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I just checked my latest batch of this.. I had upped the OG in my recipe to 1.049, but overshot and hit 1.055 into the fermenter. This was also my first time using conan yeast, and my FG appears to be 1.002 which means a 7.1% beer. So much for a nice light lawnmower beer. :drunk: :tank:

Johnson A419 chilling too much, user error?

It's controlling a submersible aquarium pump that runs ice-water through the IC. I left it at the default 1min because A) it never seems to try and run that frequently anyways B) it's not controlling a compressor where your worry about the time between on/off. I'm confused as to why I would...

Johnson A419 chilling too much, user error?

Folks, I have a Johnson A419 controller jumped in factory default settings that I'm using with my brewhemoth conical to control the pump for the IC. I have it configured with the following settings. SP: 66F SF: 1 OFS: 0 ASD: 1 DIF: 1 What I'm expecting is that the controller will...

American Pale Ale Russian River Row 2 Hill 56 Clone

Glad you like it. It's probably my most frequently brewed beer and never lasts long.

    Removing stubborn label adhesive

I only care to do so on the Belgian bottles from RR and Lost Abby cause good Belgian bottles are much harder to find unless you're willing to plunk down a good amount of cash. I'm not sure if this is the same article as he was referencing, but a little google fu and I found...

Fruit beers in a conical: Filtering when kegging?

Folks, It's that time of year for me, late spring throughout the summer I have high demands to keep a raspberry blonde on tap. Years past I'd simply secondary and add the fruit in and carefully rack to kegs with a hop bag around the autosiphone but last year I retired all my carboys to...

How long can yeast sit on a stirplate and still be usable?

So I meant to brew last week, and had a Conan starter on my stirplate. I ended up having to go out of town for work, and it's now been on the plate for at least a week, covered with foil and constant movement. Should I even consider this yeast viable any longer, or should I dump it and start...

    Slanting yeast

My plates and slants setup within a few hours. If yours is still wet & juicy one of two things likely happened. A) You didn't use enough agar B) the agar didn't fully 'bloom'/disolve with the wort. I had that happen on my first slants, where when dumping the last bit I noticed there was a...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Ask your butcher/market for full racks. They most likely get them as full racks and then process them down to english cuts, flanken ribs or korean short rib style. I checked my local Safeway 3-4x before I asked the butcher.. he came out with a gigantic excel cryovac of full racks and asked...
