    BJCP

I sat the BJCP tasting exam on 9 June and received my results yesterday, 27 October. ~4.5 month wait. I scored a 73 which I'm pleased with, now to get my judging experience points!

    Pink infection - interesting

I found an interesting colony of what I believe to be wild yeast in my hefeweizen this morning. Original yeast was Wyeasy 3068. I fermented 9 days @65 I'm fairy certain the source was a dirty line which I've since replaced. No off odors (banana esters present in aroma) I didn't sample it...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Looks like I did in fact change my brewpi instance name: pi@Weiss_Brew_Pi:~ $ pwd /home/pi pi@Weiss_Brew_Pi:~ $ ls /var/www do_not_run_brewpi place PublicBeerPanel.php weisspublicpi.php html private publicpanel So I shouldn't have any conflict with spinning up Rpints in the...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I will happily try this. I thought I could ssh into my box at home to take a look, but the workstation that I'm on at the moment doesn't allow me to turn on ssh features (admin lockdown). Thanks for the insight.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I am also running Raspbian Wheezy on my Raspberry Pi B (original). I'll take a look at the file structure to see what lives where this weekend and report back. I don't recall customizing my installation in any way so it's likely that my brewpi instance does in fact live in /var/www

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I'm running the raspberry pi / Arduino setup (see page 1 of this thread) to control my fermentation chamber and would like to integrate raspberry pints with flowmeters on the same raspberry pi. Has anyone done this and if so can they share their lessons learned / wiring diagrams?

    Clumping head

@ba-brewer there weren't any strange strings in the fermentation...just this odd head. The beer itself is quite tasty, no off aromas or flavors.

    Clumping head

Fermentation was frustrating. First utilizing a harvested and propagated strain of Pacman yeast (two 22oz Rogue chocolate stouts) which brought it down from 1.064 to 1.030, then finishing it off with US-05 which brought it down to 1.010. Fermentation temperature was at 65 (using raspberry...

    Clumping head

Yeah, I'm not sure about bugs. I guess it's always possible to have been infected in some way. I'll pop another one next week to see if it was just a fluke.

    Clumping head

Just cracked a 22oz bottle of Dead Guy Ale clone (poured into a tulip glass) and found the strangest head. When swirled the head separates and clumps. The beer is also very viscous/thick. Thoughts?

    Brewing Elements Series

4 sweet new books came in the mail yesterday and I'd like to poll the forum to see if anyone has already read these and has a recommended reading order.

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

@BrewScandolo I'll keep you in mind, thank you. If anyone in Italy is up for it, I'd love to trade some brews.

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

@BrewScandolo I'm stationed here. I've been here for 2 years and have 2 years left. I made an order from Pinta.it earlier this week. They sell Amarillo hop pellets the cheapest I've ever seen ($1.90 per ounce) I ordered a kilogram and they were delivered to my door the next day by TNT. Very...

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

Homebrewer living in Naples. Have you had any luck ordering from Pinta.it? I looked through their website, but didn't find anything I was too impressed with. I currently order everything from the states (except for my hops harvested in the fall) and would like to find something local.
