    Homebrewing Needs a Woman's Touch

She already told me where home was and demanded I meet her there, with homebrew. She didn't care the gender of who brewed.

    History Channel's "The Vikings"

I love this show. Every time I watch it I get an itch to try a batch of mead. Then I see how long the conditioning time for mead is and think "I could totally conquer a whole new world in that time frame". How in the hell did our ancestors drink so damn much. It seems like they spent equal time...

+1. If it looks like an acronym and sounds like an acronym it's probably an acronym.

    Homebrewing Needs a Woman's Touch

I haven't been on this site for long, a month or so, but I couldn't tell you what gender anyone here is unless they proclaim it in there user names. From what I've gathered people are here for answers and to share knowledge with a fair bit a goofing off at work. I've read hundreds of posts and...

    Dog slobber ale?

Bottled a beer the other day and halfway through I cut the spigot off, put the bottling wand in a bowl of starsan and had a smoke break. Came back in and finished bottling. Today my wife told me that while I was out side my new puppy started chewing on the bottling wand. She said she took it...

anybody else annoyed with the whole IPA craze?

I understand the concept. I collect Irish whiskey and store it away and I know wine people do the same. I also know home brewed stouts usually don't hit their peaks until around 8 months or more in some cases. I just have little patience with most beers for some reason. If it's a special event...

anybody else annoyed with the whole IPA craze?

I have no patience for storing store bought beer. I have a hard enough time waiting on my homebrew

anybody else annoyed with the whole IPA craze?

I just finished bottling an IPA I brewed several weeks ago. Have to say that, for personal tastes, I nailed it. Tastes good, even before bottling.

The day I owned my garage again

Bottling day got a late start and SWMBO got home early. Was told that I could (have to) install the sink and cabinets in the garage I've been wanting and vacate her kitchen immediately after bottling.

anybody else annoyed with the whole IPA craze?

I've been hunting as many different IPAs as I could for years. The recent explosion is awesome. I still stick to my favorite which is Stone IPA. I've been adventuring the world of stouts recently and planning one for my next brew day. I'm pretty stoked about it

    What are you drinking now?

Lazy Magnolia's "Southern Hops'pitality". Quite tasty

To rack or not to rack.

I dry hopped in the primary for this one so I'm anxious to see how that goes. I'm making my first move to AG next and really want to crunch numbers on my entire set up for awhile so I won't be reusing yeasts for the next few brews at least. Although it would be cheaper and cost is half my...

To rack or not to rack.

That's an excellent read. I learned a lot in a short time period. Thanks for sharing

To rack or not to rack.

I'm somewhat OCD about sanitizing (I considered wearing a mask while racking my first brew until I realized I couldn't drink my friends homebrew at the same time) so that's not a huge concern. When you are racking to a carboy there is a chance for oxygenation that you can't really do anything...

To rack or not to rack.

This hasn't happened to me yet so you probably jinxed me. I store bottles in a Rubbermaid tub, just in case. I have a hydrometer and a thief on the way. Next stop is AG, putting together a mash tun tomorrow.

To rack or not to rack.

I'm on my third brew and my two previous were both racked into a carboy after primary fermentation slowed to less than a bubble a minute(shoot me for not have a hydrometer yet, I know I need one). The first two beers turned out great. But I've been reading and hearing that the secondary...

Airlock stopped. Restarted a couple days later

Thanks for the quick replies. I have a hydrometer but no sight glass or easy way to get samples. I'll just let this one ride in the primary.

Airlock stopped. Restarted a couple days later

I brewed a IPA 6 days ago. Pitched rehydrated BRY-96. Fermentation started in under 24 hours and the airlock was rolling for a couple days and stopped. I went to rack to secondary this morning and was getting a bubble ever couple of seconds. Temperature has been a steady 68f. Is this normal...
