Pitching at 80 F then cooling down after fermentation starts bad for beer??

What if you have unprotected sex with your unpitched beer....does the risk double?

How many kegs per CO2 cylinder?

You 90% through a tank that lasted over a year. Eat the 10% and spend $20 on a refill that will last another year...what are you losing $2 in gas. When its convienent get it refilled soon as possible opposed to being forced to run out when you run out....thats never much fun

    In defense of OG breweries.

I think I remember buying Long Trail. Didnt it come in a variety 12 pack?

    In defense of OG breweries.

Blue Point Brewery on Long Island? Thats 10 minutes from my house. They were the fist craft brew on Long Island serving tap beer. The toasted Lager was their only beer sold on tap at local bars and the the ONLY craft beer on tap next to bud and coors.....looong before 15 craft beers on tap at...

    In defense of OG breweries.

Is this a sellout thread? First two posts seem to suggest that. No idea what "OG" stands for....if so... I could gives a rats ass who own the brewery. If I like the beer I like the beer, if I dont I dont. I find it laughable when I hear someone say they "used" to love the beer but instantly...

    Is it fermentation?

Take a gravity reading. If you dont have a hydrometer get one. After 17 days normal fermentation was done 11 days ago. If there was no airlock activity then you moved the bucket and it started again its from trapped co2 in the yeast cake. Airlock is a poor way to measure fermentation....things...

How old is too old for kegerator

A bandaid...ahh...no. Its just a better system. Fully adjustable with the flip of a lever. It actually makes no sense NOT to use them

    Bag vs Basket

If thats the case then the bag is the winner. After dumping the grains a quick rinse in the sink or tub to get the remaining grains out does the trick...very simple

    Bag vs Basket

I never used a basket but the Wilser bags are rounded on the bottom so everything drains to one point. A quick squeeze stops the draining for a minute allowing you to transfer the bag without dripping everywhere. Seems like a basket would continue dripping uncontrollable unless you waited a...

Beers lines running to 1st floor

And I would think the loop would need to be more like a 3" or 4" tube I thought a saw awhile ago something about a chiller line that gets wrapped around the beer lines that wasnt glycol and works good.....could be wrong though

    Insulating a Keggle Mash Tun

How much is it dropping and how fast? Are you brewing 5 or 10 gallon batches

Beers lines running to 1st floor

I'll be curious if this works without major foaming. Keep us posted. I would think most would recommend glycol. 2 lines in a 1 1/2" pipe doesnt leave a lot of airspace for movement. Plus the air dead ends at faucet buffering airflow. I think some have made a loop out of pipe or pvc. 2 holes...

    Fermentation temp controller question

just leave the probe hanging and set temp to 33. I would think it would be worse for the fridge to start and stop as you lower the temp than just to have the temp drop as the freezer was intended
  17. J

    Fermentation temp controller question

THe deley isnt going to make a bit of difference. Whether the fridge kicks on in 5 minutes or 10 minutes the beer temp isnt changing in a 5 minute difference time frame. It's strictly for the fridge. I still dont see how if the temp is set to 68 and your room temp is 72 how your beer got to 63...

Briess #50 sacks of Pilsen or 2 row malt for $30

I saw the same thing yesterday. With shipping I'm at $51. Not bad but no real savings. Northern Brewer is $54 with free shipping all the time

    Fermentation temp controller question

If its set to 68 how are you at 63. Somethings wrong. Cant be that cold this time of the year in Orlando. Whats the room temp

How old is too old for kegerator

100% Get the flow control and you can use nice short 5 foot lines instead of 12 foot lines. They work awesome. Take a good long look at sanke kegs before pulling the trigger on ball locks. They're better and you can buy a commercial keg when you want without adaptors I have a commercial...
