Bigger P make PID works more like a thermostat. Increased D helps compensate sudden changes in temperature.

    A Single 5500 watt element large enough for 24.5 - 25 gallon boil ?

Surface are definitely affect visual boiling intensity. But do not mix up boiling intensity and boiling off rate. If we are talking about the same heating power a bigger surface may have less visual boiling intensity but evaporation speed could be even bigger than in a narrow wessel.

Auber (and its analogs) is more versatile, flexible and has more ways to be fine tuned. But in most cases you need only basic functionality. And MyPin is a good choice.

    Wiring question

Most 220V LED works OK on 120Volts. So one 220V LED wired in parallel with your heater should do what you want

Would STC-1000's work in place of the PID's?

Stc comes with thermosensor, so actual difference will be around $15
  19. Brumateur

Would STC-1000's work in place of the PID's?

Yes, STC will work OK for HLT, but for RIMS you'll need a PID.

    Syl-1512a

Sure, you need a contactor and SSR only if you want to control a heating element.
