How can I convert this fridge for use in temp-controlled fermenting?

I'm pretty sure the unit does have two separate temperature controls, since we can separately set the temperature for each (freezer compartment temperature can be adjusted from -14 °C to -22 °C, fridge compartment from +2 to +8 °C.)

How can I convert this fridge for use in temp-controlled fermenting?

So I have a nice sort of problem to have, in that I now have a refrigerator I can use for temperature controlled fermenting and/or as a kegerator. Backstory: We recently moved house. Our new kitchen has (two) built-in refrigerators, so the refrigerator we were previously using has been...

    Corny Kegs

I'd love to get some corny kegs, mainly 'cause it looks soooooo much easier and faster than normal bottling. But am I correct in assuming that I also need to have a means of chilling the cornies (unless I want to only drink room-temperature beer)?

Topped up with Volvic - no fermentation

I used to start all my posts with a disclaimer that I was a newbie brewer. It's been about 7 years now and over 50 batches, so I guess I can't claim that any more.... Anyway, last week I made one of my favorite beers, the 'Bloodmoon IPA' recipe from this thread...

    fermentation temperature control options

Hmm, putting the FV in a big water bath is decent idea. Just have to find something big enough to hold a five-gallon carboy. And yes, for now I'm only looking to heat. I'm in north London and at least during the winter I don't need to worry that much about it getting too warm. But that is more...

    fermentation temperature control options

Hi guys - I've been on the look-out for a used refrigerator that would be the right size to fit my fermentation vessels + airlock; so far I haven't had much luck finding one that would be the right size. In the meantime, I'm looking at some other temperature control options, focusing mainly on...

    Refrigerator as fermenting chamber

I'm guessing that's the True Manufacturing glass-door refrigerator. Closest thing I see now available is the GDM-09E-LD: http://www.truemfg.com/catalog.aspx?language_id=1&event_id=1023&categoryId=2042&productName=GDM-09E-LD

    Water bottles?

Our tap water here in London is a bit hard for our tastes, so we get water home-delivered in 19l bottles. According to the bottom of the bottle, these bottles are 'copolyester', and the symbol - the 'resin identification code' - is a triangle with a seven in the center, which I think means...

    Auto-siphon with glass carboy

After drinking some of my Blood Moon IPA homebrew, a neighbor decided to try his hand at brewing. Rather than just dipping his toe in, he jumped in head-first, spending a small fortune to build a small brewery in his kitchen LOL Anyway - last night I get a frantic call and head over to his...

Interesting problem: Converting refrigerator for fermentation chamber

Hi guys - I've been looking to get a small refrigerator to use / convert into a fermentation chamber, when I had the good luck (?!) of having our refrigerator breakdown....kind of. Basically the freezer section works fine, but the refrigerator section appears to only cool to about 13-15 degrees...

    American IPA Blood Moon IPA

    > IBU (tinseth): 76.5 IBUs seem a bit high? I racked to secondary for dry-hopping last night - looks and smells amazing. Here were my numbers STATS: Boil size: 11 liters (2.9 US gallons) Batch size: 20 liters (about 5 US gallons) Measured Original Gravity: 1.055 Measured Final...

    American IPA Blood Moon IPA

Made this over the weekend! Basically made it exactly to the recipe above, although the OG came in a bit lower at 1.055. Maybe because I was doing a partial boil? Anyway, my observations: - OMG having a wort chiller is the effin' bomb. Went from boiling to pitching temperature in 17 minutes...

    American IPA Blood Moon IPA

I'm going to try and make this recipe this weekend, so here's my stupid questions - well, not really question; bear with me, newbie brewer here, so want to make sure I have all the steps down. 1) Steep the Caramel Pils in one gallon of water for 30 mn @ 155 2) Remove grains, stir in 6lbs of...

This is a good thing, right? (fermentation & airlock activity)

I've made 7-8 batches or so over the past year. All have been very drinkable, liked some more than others. I usually get about 36 hours of visible/audible airlock activity, then it dies down. I know it's still fermenting, just that there's no visible airlock activity after the second or...

Beginner Question(s) re: Coopers Microbrewery Kit

Beginner here as well; I've done 7-8 batches. My first brew was the Cooper's kit. Came out decent, definitely drinkable. If I were to do it again I'd use two cans of the liquid malt extract and I wouldn't use the brewer's sugar that came with the kit. I use bottled water, but we always have...

    I wanna make beer but??

My wife says it smells like I'm making ramen. As of this post, I'm undecided as to if this is a good thing or not. She does drink my beer tho:mug:

    chest freezer recommendation

SWMBO has given me permission to buy a chest freezer or similiar apparatus for cooling during fermentation; apparently I've been a good boy lately :ban: Only condition is that it doesn't chew up too much electricity. When it's not cooling my fermention bucket she'll probably want to use it...
