    Saison Grain Help

I just got my milled grains today for a Saison I am brewing tomorrow and noticed on my packing list that there is more of 2 grains than I ordered. Is there something I should do to tweak this or should it be fine? I was thinking I should up the CaraVienne but I really do not know...

    DME/Water Ratio for Starter ?

I use weight not volume for my starters. 50g DME to each 500ml water. You could up that a bit for your .072 start. Either way you should be OK.

What came in the mail for you today?

It does have the round at the bottom. Nice and thick compared to my 8 gallon pot. You are right about the location of the thermometer, 5.5 gallons gets it covered. I am now considering what to do inside; bazooka tube, dip tube or other DIY. I use a hop spider so I am mostly interested...

First brew, bottling time not sure what to do?

Bottle it! keep it warm, like 72 for 3 weeks and then enjoy it. It will get better every day. The best bottling process I can suggest is Revvy's and it is right here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/bottling-tips-homebrewer-94812/

    Simple lager -like ale recipe

+1 on BierMuncher's Centennial Blonde. I have brewed this twice and both times it turned out great. My BMC drinking friends emptied the kegs in record time. A single ounce of hops in 5g. A true session beer for any BMC drinker.

    starter, pass or fail

How did you make your starter? DME to water ratio? Volume? Is there any visible fermentation activity on the flask (krasen)? Fermentation could easily be complete depending on your OG. Typically you should swirl it as often as you can. I would say if you followed good sanitary practice...

Should I Dump This Trub Before Pitching

I was going off your pictures at the start of this thread (I now assume your ball valve was closed?) and the word of others who stated they have to 'dump' multiple times. Making the 'catcher' is zero trouble, but I am also not into doing things for nothing. Guess I'll put my APA in there...

Should I Dump This Trub Before Pitching

Sorry I know this is an older post. Greetings V-Vessel users on this thread. I just acquired one and I have a question. If you had to estimate, what volume of trub/yeast would you say is average for a mid gravity 5g batch? I ask because the 'ball' that comes with the vessel holds 600ml and I...

Noob - extract question for a partial boil

IMHO: Steep your grains for 30min @155 in 2gal. Top up to whatever you are comfortable boiling, bring it to a boil, kill the heat/flame, add 2 of your 6# of DME. Bring that to a boil and hop according to your schedule. Add the remaining DME at flameout, mix well without splashing, cool...

    Letting StarSan Air Dry

I always add SS to water for just that reason. Either way is fine though. My kids love the foam. :mug:

    Cheaper mass quantity drinking beer

I'll second kombat's suggestion. The extract version of Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde that I brewed for a christmas party was a HUGE hit among the BMC drinkers. And a 5g batch costs about as much as a 6pack of 'craft' beer. Just search the forums for 'Centennial Blonde'.

    DIY Stir Plate HELP!

Well, I caved and just ordered a Stir Starter stir plate. Ironically it cost $3 less than what I spent at Radio Shack. Although I will not have the satisfaction of having built it myself, it will help my starters, which are required because of the way I harvest yeast. Many thanks to all who...

    DIY Stir Plate HELP!

Thanks for the quick replies. So I did switch the wires. I am direct wiring to test prior to placing in the project box with a potentiometer. I also have a output: 12VDC 1000mA adapter. I hooked that up and again the fan is powered but does not spin, just shudders. Uggh...
