    Holiday Spiced Ale

I'm somewhat confused. I probably misread the article but it sounded like Crystal 120 was use for brewing but the recipe calls for Crystal 60. Also, because I'm still fairly new at brewing and haven't tried brewing with spices or molasses what would be a good starting point for the amounts of...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

My answer to the conical stand was a five dollar find at Goodwill. The original table had a top and shelf made from 1x3s and no wheels. I got it home and replaced the table top with a piece of particle board I had laying around and cut a 10 1/2 or 11 inch hole in it. I really don't remember...

What do you do with your spent grains?

We make dog treats from the spent grain. I don't do all grain batches so the amount of grain isn't large and the recipe only calls for 4 cups of spent grain.

    A recipe for leftovers?

This is my first attempt at making my own recipe and since I do a lot of cooking I was used to seeing what I have on hand and working from there. I hoped to achieve a balanced brew with a taste of grapefruit and it seems I may be on the right track. I prefer a bigger beer than most pale ales...

    A recipe for leftovers?

Thanks for the reply. It didn't matter if the recipe fit any particular style of beer but now I have some idea as to what I can compare it to. I just want to use up what I had on the shelf and avoid making something that would turn out un-drinkable. From what I've read the late addition of...

    A recipe for leftovers?

Being new to brewing I've found the information here very useful and has help me avoid many problems. Thanks to all! I'm three batches into this new hobby using recipes found the web or from my LHBS. My third batch was brewed the other day and I now have some left-over ingredients. I found...
