    Low Attenuation

Thanks for the replies. After some thought I'll settle for the 1.020 and bottle it in a few days. When I use the 1968 next time I'll mash at a lower temp and hope it helps. Thanks again.

    Low Attenuation

Brewed a PA last Friday using Wyeast 1968 London ESB and fermentation has stalled/stopped. All indications of fermentation had ceased by Monday morning. Beersmith calculated the OG to be 1.053 and FG at 1.013. After the wort cooled I used a hydrometer and got 1.058 for an OG and currently the...

    English ale strain, suggestions pls

Here is a link to an old thread.... British Yeasts, Fermentation Temps and Profiles, CYBI, Other Thoughts... It contains a lot of useful info and I think you will find an answer to your question. Hope it helps.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Just finished a strong bitter. It's my first try at a clone of Ringwood's Old thumper. I've never tried it but the recipe sounded good. I hit my numbers so I'm hoping for the best. Sunday or Monday I'll bottle a Dark Mild.

Yorkshire Square on a home level?

Has anybody tried an open fermentation in a conical? I plan to make a English Porter (5 Gal Batch) in a 7 gal Fast fermenter using Ringwood Ale (W1187) yeast. I'm wondering if leaving the top off the FF will achieve a result close to the open square. Rousing the yeast may be more difficult...

I have two FF and have not had the problem you've described. I usually let the wort settle in the boil kettle for 30 minutes or so before it goes into the FF. This seems to help minimize the sediment going into the FF.

    Choosing A Conical Fermenter

This thread contained some good information and could be a reference for anyone looking to buy a conical. I've looked at some and the price on the Brewtech (7 Gal) is within reach. Spike Brewing should be releasing their conical line soon so I'll wait for them before making a decision. For...

    FastFerment conical

I've used the FF for a year and have broken one in the same place. I guessed I just tightened the ball to much to often.

    Help brewing a better dubbel

Thanks for the tips and info. Skipping the spice and working on temp control will be part of my next attempt. Thanks again.

    Help brewing a better dubbel

I've brewed a couple dubbels and the best I can say about them is "they were drinkable... not good but drinkable". Ommegang makes an excellent dubbel so my next attempt will contain most of the ingredients listed on the Ommegang web site for their Abbey Ale. I plugged the ingredients into Beer...
