    Just curious, but has anyone ever used pop/soda as way to add fermentable sugar to their beer? Is this even possible? Also...what are some of the weirder ingredients that you have used to increase your fermentable sugars?

    Thanks for the reply cervezarara! I think that this is exactly it. I am certain that we were steeping at too hot of a temperature. Those were the first two batches that we switched to a burner from the stove and we were having difficulties keeping the tempeture in control. Thanks,
