    Pizza & Beer

I prefer IPA's with my pizza but don't mind having a nice heavy stout either.

Major oxidation in recently bottled beer...

I not sure how it happened but right in the bend of my auto siphon racking cane it got a crack. I was racking a carboy into a keg and I walked by when it was about 3/4 of the way done and heard a little whistle. At first I thought it was the tube on the cane until I ran my finger over the cane...

    Dead propane tank

i'm not sure if they pulled the valves they took the tank and I had to wait a week or two cause they sent it out to be tested. As for the price that was quite a few years ago. I also do a lot of business were I had this done. So I'm not sure if that curbed the price a bit.

    Dead propane tank

A couple of years ago I had 2 tanks expire on me so I took them to a gas supply store and they charged me 5 dollars for a new inspection and I believe it is good for 7 or 10 years. I don't trade mine in cause they are 30lb tanks and if I buy the propane in larger quantities they give a...

    Cold crashing versus just kegging

On my post about introducing O2 while cold crashing, now I do believe unless you have a perfect seal O2 will get in. With that being said I still believe it would not be an issue unless you really got your carboy rocking enough to mix it in. There should be still enough of a blanket of CO2...

    Cold crashing versus just kegging

That can happen for sure. I use a one piece air lock and that avoids that issue. Which brings up another issue, the introduction of O2.

    Cold crashing versus just kegging

I guess you can look at it this way, If you don't cold crash, then rack into your keg- then chill your keg you are essentially cold crashing in your keg. What would be the difference?- Maybe a bit more sediment in your keg. Don't see it hurting anything. I keep two kegs on tap and have 2...

Too many kegs, not enough fridges

its a big bottle. I store kegs in my basement all the time prob a bit warmer than 60 maybe closer to 70 no big deal. I would say as long as you don't have extreme temp fluxes you don't have to worry.

    Cold crashing versus just kegging

I cold crash almost all the time. When I don't its not a big deal don't notice any difference maybe a bit more sediment but never an issue. Just remember carbing pressures are different for warm vs cold kegs.

So I think I screwed up

I would pitch and not worry. ABV will be a bit lower-just drink 2. As far as the low efficiency I would just start looking at your process and see were you may need to improve. Without knowing to much info it could be many things, crush, ph, temps, recipe, amongst others. Throw out some more...

    In Defense of a Secondary

I brew 10 gallon batches. Sometimes I use a secondary sometimes I don't. I like to experiment so I might split my primary into 2 secondaries and use 2 different hops to dry hop with. I might split a stout and add coffee to one and not the other. I've racked from my primary to a keg and the...

    Just starting - with Questions!

your next step should be to find ways to improve your beer. No matter what system or method I try I always do it in the hope that I will improve my beers. If it doesn't work I try something else. The best part about it is there are so many different ways to do things and make good beers you...
