If I remember right, a 1 liter (~34oz) mug of Amstel was about $2 in Athens, 1990 - half the price of Coke.
About 5 years ago we had a great pizza place where you could get a 40oz mug of Union Jack for $4.00 during happy hour. I have no idea how they went out of business....
I usually use my Wilser bag inside the malt pipe. It doesn't make any sense but the first 2 times I brewed without the bag, I had to fight stuck recirculation. Maybe I got better at controlling the flow, or maybe the bag actually helps, but it works now so I'm not going to change it.
I was driving from California to Oklahoma and pulled over in eastern New Mexico. Crawled into my sleeping bag in the back seat for a nap. Turns out I had parked on a fire ant hill because I woke up with my sleeping bag full of them. I have no idea how they coordinated getting in place before...
The very first beer I ever made was a cream ale. It was a very basic recipe and I bottled the first half plain. Then I added a small about of bourbon vanilla extract (from a commercial chocolate maker) to the remaining half and bottled that. Everyone raved over the plain bottles but it took...
Yesterday was NOT a good garden day. My cucumber trellis collapsed! And some cat decided that my bean plant made a nice, cool bed. I think I’ve got both fixed now, with guy wires on the trellis and bamboo skewers to guard the beans.
There is no frosting at all. It started on one plant and the first thing Google produced for “squash leaves rust” was root rot. Since then it has spread to leaves of other plants that touch the first one though so I am thinking there is a mite involved and maybe it’s just too small to see.
You need some kind of valve/clamp to restrict flow. Even the pump that comes with the Foundry is way too fast (and that clamp SUCKS but at least it works). It just occurred to me that I have a cheap/light vice lock from Harbor Freight that would likely do the job much better. I'll have to try...
I use the Cuss Brewing TriCoil on my 10.5 without any problems so I never paid any attention to displacement. It is a tight fit on the width though. I'm not sure it would fit the 6.5. It chills insanely fast though - under 100F (I've been using kveik lately) in under 3 minutes.
Beans are in. Yellow squash, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers are growing like crazy. I also have 7 tomatoes, 3 tepin chilis, golden beets and salsify in grow bags. I’m hoping to get all the bags watered by drip line this year, but we will see.
I finished digging it up last night and the cylinder looks like an old clothes line. No idea what the block next to it was. Got the beans and the okra planted this morning. It’s my first time working with landscape fabric, so we will see how that goes. It seems like it will be really handy for...
So I have been brewing on my Foundry for about 7 months now. A couple months ago, I took it over to a friend's house and brewed on his porch while he brewed a 10G batch on his 5500W/240V system. I was shocked when we both needed to chill at the same time! To be fair, he had just made some...
My youngest is in 6th grade and they haven’t used the swing set in years. I’m going to turn the swing portion into a trellis and get some asparagus beans growing on it. I’m also thinking about picking up some 2nd hand plexiglass and turning the fort section into a greenhouse.
I never tore down my tomatoes from last year and we only dropped below 32F briefly this winter. The plants look terrible but they are still loaded with ripe tomatoes and are starting to put on blooms! 😂
Last year my mom gave me 6 rhubarb plants to add to my garden and they have taken over a 100 gallon grow bag.
Today so sent me a link to a page with rhubarb recipes that included:
So I am looking to turn this into a 5 gallon recipe and hoping for help. I think I will start with 3 cups of...
