What I did for beer today

Kegged and naturally primed a dark ale with 1968, haven't used it in a long time, man is it a great yeast. Not really a porter. Cant wait to drink it. Might get the nitro bottle out, if its not empty. Also, pitched yeast into my witbier.

Which dry lager yeast to use

Never liked 34/70. S 189 or S 23 are my fave dry lager yeast strains.

    Blonde ale = Kölsch ?

Kolsch, or however you spell it, wherever you are, has to be the most controversy generating beer style. I'm pretty confident the brewers in Cologne don't pay any attention to what a bunch of homebrewers think of it, or how they feel about it, or how they brew it.

    S-189

Very clean user friendly lager yeast. Can ferment clean at warmer than usual lager temps. Hard to mess up. Clarity very good as well.

    New Lalbrew Farmhouse yeast

I agree. I still like WY 3726, and will still use it, but i do like the farmhouse so far. I also like to leave the for a good few weeks, so i'll re try in a few weeks, but, very happy so far. I used some dextrose, mainly for a boost in alcohol, which i normally don't do. I usually do 4% saison...

i have to keep fizzy yellow beer on tap.

Coors light started becoming available in australia in the last few years. The canned stuff, i think is pretty good summer beer.

    Desperation to avoid heat

My sour porter sat in my garage through 4 australian summers, ( 30c'ish easily and often ) and occasionally the air lock dried out completely. I worried about it, but it was the best sour i made by far.

    Going Back To BIAB

I started with the 3V cooler and gravity in the early 2000's. Very basic. Then people started getting temp probes, pumps and PID controllers on home made 3V trolleys. Pretty complicated to my simple mind. Im in maintenance, so like the simplest setup i can get. Then i saw BIAB. I was sold...

    What are you drinking now?

Spelt saison. Getting through the batch now. I try to leave it a while, but it isn't happening this batch.

    New Lalbrew Farmhouse yeast

My dark farmhouse. All the colour is from Sinimar, 130g in 5 gal, which is way more than i normally use. The bottle i have is old so i thought i'd use a lot. Early tasting, but its really nice. Bit of a generic saisony aroma and flavour, which i quite like. Dry finish, and the sinimar adds...

    100% nitro for serving?

This is why i put the C02 back on between drinking sessions ( after bleeding the higher pressure nitrogen from the keg ) But, i have forgotten before and while it did lose carbonation, for stout or mild i honestly didn't mind at all

What came in the mail for you today?

Damn are you getting the smart tag with it!?

    100% nitro for serving?

I'd much rather have a beer engine but damn, they're expensive here haha
  18. H

    100% nitro for serving?

I do this. Because renting a decent sized nitro mix bottle is ridiculous ( Australia ) . It'd last me forever. I carb ( lightly ) with C02. Then use small kegland disposable Nitrogen bottles and a stout tap. It works, but can be finnicky to get right ( the initial carb/Nitro serving pressure...

Yeast sub question K97 for WLP029

I get zero fruit from 029. So little, i use it as my house "clean ale" yeast. I've brewed with it a lot, mostly at 15c. I like 2565 for koelsch. What temp do you ferment it at ?

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread
