You know you're a home brewer when?

When your at work and see the 5.5 gallon drums full of cleaning stuff and think 'hmm wonder if I could use that drum to ferment beer in'.

    Using bleach

Cheers. I've only done 6 batches, done my first BIAB on Friday. I live in the UK and StarSan isn't easy to come by in the shops. I use VWP not sure if u have heard of it or not but its basically powered bleach, it cost quite a bit.

    Using bleach

Hi all, just wondering if using household non scented bleach is ok to use and does it sanitise as good as all the main stream brewing products out there?

    First partial mash.

Cheers for your input. I love the aromas of American ales. I live in the UK and its hard to get american 2 row. My LHBS doesn't supply it. I thought I would improvise and use British malt and American hops. Hope it turns out ok. If not then I've gained some experience.

Why should I stick with this frustrating hobby?!

Im a a new brewer (5 batches in) and my second was a dark ale extract kit that turned out bad! I couldn't drink it even after it was left for 6 weeks. It really frustrated me and I almost gave up. Luckily my bro in law is experienced in brewing and talked me back into it, and I'm glad he did. Im...

    General brewing question?

Nice. I'm from England. We are lucky to have such a good variety of ales. I'm in the process of trying my hand at a partial mash and making an American style ale as I went to a very famous beer festival and was hooked on the high percentage American ales.

    General brewing question?

Nice. I've only been brewing for a couple of months now and I got into it because my brother in law brews and he brought me a starter kit. I'm already getting into steeping grains and will be doing a partial mash BIAB style. Good luck on future brews.

    General brewing question?

So how long have you all been brewing, and what made you start brewing your own beer?

Using Block ice to chill wort

I just done a partial boil of 3.5 gallons, it took me around 45 mins to cool my wort. I put it in my sink with ice and also the night before I sterilised 4 pots and filled with cooled boiled water and then froze them. I put them straight in my wort. Hopefully it will turn out ok. I'm currently...
