Dry hopping experiences with fresh/wet hops

I've come across some fresh /wet hops straight off the farm. I'm going to make a dipa with mostly late hop additions to maximize aroma + flavor. Has anybody dry hopped with wet hops? Did you get grassy flavors or did it come out awesome? Should I use 4x the amount by weight since they are...

    Ideas for Christmas/Winter brews?

I have a robust porter w Rye and a dash of pumpkin/holiday spices that I'm gonna barrel age... should come in around 7% Then I have my big ass imperial stout "the full wendigo" that was a partguile with my Oktoberfest. Basically a mazen recipe with a bunch of dark malts added in a reiterated...

BeerSmith vs brewers friend FG way off

Hey I'm trying to formulate a nice barrel aged Barleywine w a bunch of Munich malt. Problem is when I plug the same recipe into both programs, Brewers friend has it finishing at 1.031 and BeerSmith has it finishing at 1.018 Obviously this is going to be a very different beer depending on...

Octoberfest attempt- what did I wind up with?

I personally would drink as-is but you could always brew another low OG batch with proportionally less Vienna and Munich, then blend the two together.

Barrel aged Belgium Triple with Oats, Rye, Guava, Peaches, and pine/citrus Hops!

The barrel is bourbon; the beer idea was born from the desire to keep my barrel full after its present contents are emptied. Instead of doing a standard barleywine I figured I'd experiment a bit with something I've never tried or even heard of. Personally I don't think anything in the recipe...

Barrel aged Belgium Triple with Oats, Rye, Guava, Peaches, and pine/citrus Hops!

Hoppy fruit IPA with barrel aging, but instead of ale yeast use Belgian... I dunno it is definitely sort of a "kitchen sink" type beer, maybe will reevaluate before brewing

Barrel aged Belgium Triple with Oats, Rye, Guava, Peaches, and pine/citrus Hops!

Just curious if you thought those flavors would meld together at all, or if I should stick to something a bit more traditional?? Here is the recipe I am debating: 5lbs Pilsner 4lbs 2 row 4lbs Rye 2lbs Flaked oats 0.5lbs Crystal60 0.5lbs Crystal 20 0.9lbs Honey malt 0.5lbs brown sugar 1lbs...

What I did for beer today

Poured bottle dregs from 2 Orvals (and half the bottle) into my newly finished Saison keg... hoping to kill some of the bitterness via fermenting some remaining sugars and give it some funk. Bring on the funk!!

High alcohol Imperial IPA (too sweet)

Have you had Dogfish head 120? 18-20% abv and ridiculously sweet (fg supposedly is near 1.050!!) Personally I don't like it but some have a taste for it... What is your current gravity and also IBUs? You have probably already tried bumping the temps up and rousing the yeast. You could make a...

Imperial Stout with Bell's Oberon Yeast

Hello I harvested some yeast from Bell's Oberon bottles. I want to do a heavy imperial stout with it. Does anyone have experience pushing this yeast to 12%abv? I emailed the brewery and they said it would go to 15%... currently I have a 3 gallon (!) starter fermenting. Gonna put the wort in on...

    Partigyle reiterated mash idea

Ok thanks for info. I have been reading a bunch about this. One of the reasons for the reiterated mash is my 10gal mash tun will not fit the 24lbs of grain called for in my recipe. Now I am doing an 6.5%abv Oktoberfest lager w the first mash, and using some of that wort as strike water for...

    Partigyle reiterated mash idea

Just want a sanity check on this one: First mash is 20(ish) pounds of light colored malts, high gravity first runnings are used as strike water for second mash. Second runnings used to create an Oberon style summer ale. Second mash. First runnings used as strike water. Malts will be...

    First recipe, summer saison

I love mosaic too... just had Mosaic Hero by Revolution and WOW what an insanely great beer. I had Mosaic as bittering because I already have some, and high alpha acids, but might bitter w something else and throw some Mosaic in for aroma, of course it is a saison and so maybe the hops will...

    First recipe, summer saison

Perfect, thanks! That was the main thing I was wondering about this recipe. Can maybe just replace the carapils with equal amount of sugar.
