    What are you drinking now?

Don’t ban me bro! The empty tumbler is HB Hefeweizen. The bottle is one my wife opened and didn’t like so it’s mine now 🤪

Ladies/Gents! What are you brewing for yourself/the mom in your life on May 9?

Fermenter full. Can't brew . But if I could, I would brew the beer the mother of most of my children gave her best review to "It's OK," which would be my Grolsch-ish lager.

    HBT Literary Night Open Mic

They said “you can go stainless,” "It’s really quite painless" So I emptied my bank And I drank and I drank And now I just feel pretty brainless

I am the best new neighbor ever

People bought the house next to us that had been EMPTY for seven years. My wife made cookies and I brought a growler of HB IPA. There was a kid there, like 10 years old, and he said "my Dad will like this" (about the beer).

Kegging from CF10 to Sanke Kegs

No need to use ball lock connect; you should already have the stuff to do it if you have the "Closed pressure transfer kit" from Spike for the CF10. Looks like this. Racking port to valve to TC with barb to tubing to your Sanke coupler that you've taken the check valves out of (I call this one...

    Reusing yeast

Just put the new wort into the fermenter without cleaning. Don't worry about the crap on the walls. I would oxygenate next but probably not necessary with all the splashing that goes on. You don't need any pkgs of yeast - that's kind of the whole idea!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

IPA. Got my harvested yeast and my hop box hops. First time trying the Lupomax

What came in the mail for you today?

Hopbox. Gift from my daughter and son-in-law. Comes with hops and swag!

Anyone else dealing with smell/taste loss from COVID?

Been wondering same thing. Had COVID in December and defintitely noted like the OP that beer seemed "seltzer-y." I have a porter recipe (no chocolate added) that I'm sure I could taste chocolate in before, but don't notice it now.

Love/hate of a homebrew keg kicking. Isn't dat veird?

So I just pulled an IPA from a keg I think is about to kick and I'm weirdly disappointed that it didn't but then when they kick I'm also a little sad. I know my homebrew people can identify, right? right?

show your age with a picture of a toy from your childhood

Pretty sure I had some sea monkeys that lived for a little bit. Had the green plastic ant farm - don't remember how that ended either

Need clarification on "No brew before the boil."

It's strictly enforced with optional penalties!

    Essential non brewing equipment

Might have to try that for the yeast jars. "Surely I won't forget what I put in you buddy - Plenty of time to come back and label you later and I really should get back to drinking this pint..."

Need clarification on "No brew before the boil."

Horsemeat sammich sounds amazing right now. Too bad I don't have a horse

Need clarification on "No brew before the boil."

No, it was not supposed to be anything seriously affecting the beer like that - just meaning don't enjoy too much brew too early in the brew day ;). Maybe the "broken hydrometer count" people started it.

Need clarification on "No brew before the boil."

So, as I brew today this question came up again. We've all heard the "no brew before the boil" guideline, and I've seen where it matters for calculating IBUs, boil times, pre-boil gravity and so on. But does that mean "before the boil starts?," "before rolling boil reached," "before thinking...
