The QD's I'm using are 1/2" but they are not full flow. more like 3/8" my tubing is 1/2 X 3/4 silicone. I'll look into getting the street 90's. they also said that may be part of the problem restricting the flow at the inlet because I have a threaded 90 off the inlet with a male QD after it.
I have a March running beside it. They said the bore is smaller and it runs fine. I'm trying to avoid buying more fittings. But I guess I may have to. When I get the chugger to pump it runs great and it is quiet too. Just need to work the bugs out of my system.
I've been having trouble with my chugger cavitating. I spoke to them and they said it needs full 1/2" flow to the inlet. Has anyone tried to bore out the SS Bargin Fitting connectors or have any other solutions to the problem. I really don't want to take a drill to all the fittings I just bought.
For the money I'm very happy with these fittings. I had some sputtering issues too and it was caused by too hot of water coming through the tubing. My thermometer was off and caused cavatation in the pump head.
I've noticed a few hops at HD and other sites are out of stock how fast do bulk sites usually run out? Or is this common?
I'm on the fence about a couple but dont want to have too much on hand.
I'm just getting started again. As of lately i've brewed a SNPA clone, and a Octoberfest. I just made a list of beers I'd like to brew and bought hops ahead of time, i paid $3/oz. at my LHBS. I really like english ales and pilsners though.
I've just gotten back into the hobby but I built a nice stand and figured I better buy in bulk to keep cost down. I've also never brewed a SmAsH but I'm looking forward to it. From reading around I'm thinking 2 row domestic, marris otter, and a import pilsner.
I ordered my first bulk hops today.
1 lb. each Tettanger, Hallertauer, Cascade, Centennial, Magnum, Saaz, and Willamette.
Is there anything you would add to this?
I gotta figure out what bulk grains to buy next?

near the bottom of the page is a 5 gallon "food grade" container. I think he gets these from the pepsi or coke fountain machines. Are these the same thing as a "Winpak" from USplastics? or if not do you think they would be ok for fermentation?
Here is a picture of my brewstand. Thanks to all who posted pics and info on this site. I built this out of a ATV ramp that goes up to a truck bed. welded supports on the end and casters on the bottom. bargin fittings weldless kits, 1 march and 1 chugger. 1/2" x 3/4" silicone line with bargin...
after washing i got about 1/4" in each four jars. is this enough for a batch after a starter is made or do you combine a couple to make one. I may have missed this earlier. Thanks for video anyway to save some cash is great!
Also is it possible to use distilled water rather than boiling and...
I brewed my first AG batch on my new system the other day. didn't calibrate my t.c. and it was 30 deg off mashed around 175 sparged around 200....not good. but I'm still planning on drinking it!!
yea live and learn, im boiling it now. It's a SNPA clone so it should be interesting to say the least. too bad i didn't have a spare dry yeast to pitch rather than an expensive white lab. LHBS 40mins. away:confused:
I didn't check my probe on my thermocouple, the battery was low and ended up being 30 deg. of for everything. basically mashed at 184 and sparged with around 198. I'm going to go ahead with it being my first batch in a long time and also first on the new stand. My efficiency was very low but I...
I haven't figured out my efficiency yet I will have it tomorrow. I followed a recipe that figured for 70% so if im better than that it will help too. I'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.
