    Beer won't carbonate in keg

Thanks for the help. Guess I’ll just give it more time like most things. Since I’ve been trying to figure this out for over a week, I’ve pulled the gas disconnect off the keg, and released some pressure to make sure it was getting gas, so that is some extra purging, and I’ve probably pulled...

    Beer won't carbonate in keg

Yup, I purged it. My routine is to hit it at 30 psi, purge, hit again, purge, then again at 30, then turn the gas off for the next 12 hours or so. Then next day I set the pressure to about 10 psi fo a week.

    Beer won't carbonate in keg

I have a pale ale that has been on CO2 for 3 weeks now and it just will not carbonate. I use the set it and forget it method at about 10psi. I know there's pressure going in because it pours just fine. The other 2 taps are also fine. I've made this pale ale about 15 times. Never had this...

First time kegging: carbing, travel, and chilling questions

I might suggest that if you’ve let it sit and it has settled a bit, I’d pull a pint or 2 before you travel with it, just to get what’s settled out of the keg. Is there any way you can put some ice around the keg in your vehicle? Maybe in a plastic garbage can.

    Stored keg cleaning?

I always rinse, then sanitize. I also have one of those dip tube brushes. I was amazed how dirty the tubes were before I started using it. Money well spent. Also clean siphon with it.

Space issue in mash tun would be a reason to add DME.

Help with Black Patent in Stout Experiment

Imho, a little bit of black patent goes a long way. I use it a moderate amount, and I don’t think I really go over .25 lb in a 5 gallon batch.

    Cool zone sprang a leak

Anyone had this happen to a cool zone fermenter wrap. Tried a bike patch, but that didn’t hold. Would love to fix this thing. Right now I’ve gone old school with the wet towel and a fan. I’m fermenting in a 7 gallon Chronical. http://www.gotta-brew.com/products/conical-cooling-jacket.html

    First Lager, Yeast Starter

I’ll bet it’s chugging away now. The stir plate is a great addition to your brewery. Make sure you test it before your next brew day with some plain old water. I built mine, and initially the magnets on the motor were too far from the stir bar. I love to watch that thing go. Have to tear myself...

Brewing outside when it’s too windy

One more thing. I’ve had situations in the wind where I’ve turned the burner up, then I go inside for something, and you come out to a boil over. In the wind, you have to stay on alert.

Brewing outside when it’s too windy

Wind is the worst. I turn up the burner, which you’ve already done. I brew in my driveway. First thing I would do is move a car to make a shield. If that’s not an option, make some kind of wind shield. Maybe something with tin closer to your burner. Wind is the only thing that’s stopped me from...

    WLP090 San Diego Super

A couple of batches ago I wasn’t paying attention at LHBS, and I asked for WLP001 Cal Ale, which I use a ton. Noticed I bought WLP090 after I got home, and my first instinct was to go back to the shop. Second instinct was to research the yeast. I went with second instinct, and I was glad I did...

I think your original plan is solid. I would not adjust the temperature. I think you’ll be fine.

Quick Question about Carbonation (From Keg to Bottle)

Chill the bottles to reduce foaming. If you can fill from bottom of bottle with some tubing, will reduce foaming, but you will want to cap on foam.

How are my Kegs getting Overcarbed?

Start pulling and cleaning dip types and take apart and clean liquid and gas connections. I bought a dip tube brush. Very handy.
