Back after almost 10 years :)

All grain definitely gives you more control but there's nothing wrong with extracts. The important thing is that you make an end product that you are happy with.

    Greetings from Germany

    Welcome to the forum!

    Beer in keg seems flat

Serving pressure needs to be 12 - 14 PSI depending on your setup and the type of beer you are serving. Your serving line length should be a minimum of 10 FT of 3/16" ID tubing. Start with longer that you think you need. You can trim the tubing. You can't make it longer. You can adjust both the...

    Video ideas

There are plenty of questions here on the forum and on other sites. https://www.reddit.com/r/Homebrewing/ I would look around, pick a question and try to answer it. I also have a YouTube Channel. Haven't considered answering any questions. Most of my video's are brew days. But there is plenty of...

Well that's impressive. We've all been there.

    Irish Red Ale

The substitution chart I use also recommends Special B. https://www.brew.is/files/malt.html

    Ale horn

I received one of the smaller ones from my wife as well. I don't see myself using this a lot but it is pretty cool.

    Brewing salts question.

That's an interesting question. I always treat for the final volume that is going in to the fermenter. I never really thought about it beyond that. You are boiling off water to get your final volume. If you treated for 7 gallons but the end result is 6 gallons your concentrations are going to...

Question on LME substitution for a Nut Brown Ale recipe

I would use Pilsen or or Light as a substitute for 2 Row. I've had good experiences with both. Personally I find them to be interchangeable but not everyone is going to agree with that.that

What do you suppose this is?

I would not be concerned with that. I've bottled and kegged plenty of times with particles in suspension. They should all drop out in time.

    Idaho 7 (007) hops

I've used 007 a few times. I think the best replacement would be Chinook or CTZ. I prefer both of those over 007. But that is just my personal preference.

    Brewtoad shutting down

It's never good to see a resource like that go down.

    Which regulator?

I have a preference for Micro Matic regulators.

    Mash water volume

When I had a smaller 5 gallon cooler for a mash tun I routinely used 1 qt./pound. When I upgraded to a 10 gallon mash tun I changed to 1.25 qt./pound. The only difference is in the amount of sparge water required. 2 sparges in the 5 gallon. 1 sparge in the 10 gallon. I think the main advantage...

    Sierra Nevada Resilience IPA

My goal is to brew this some time in the next couple weeks. Just need to get the ingredients. Unfortunately my LHBS does not carry Imperial yeast.

"The Juice Is Worth The Squeeze" Imperial IPA

I've had several responses to this over on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Homebrewing/comments/a0vepi/brewing_a_grapefruit_ipa_with_dried_grapefruit/ One of the comments suggested to put the zest, with some Amarillo hops, in a hop bag and then put the bag in the keg. Instead of putting the...

"The Juice Is Worth The Squeeze" Imperial IPA

I finally was able to brew this. It came out great. I did have to make some adjustments for equipment and to work with the hops I had on hand. The full recipe with beerXML file is available on my website here...

Brewing a Grapefruit IPA with dried Grapefruit Zest

I picked up a grapefruit IPA recipe over at Home Brew Talk several months back. What made it interesting is that it used dried grapefruit zest. I had never considered using that. I hadn't actually heard of it till I came across the recipe. My full brew day video is available here: With the...

    Viking and Weyermann malts comparable?

I've been using Viking pilsner base malt for my last few batches. I have not had any issues. Nor do I detect a difference in flavor from the Briess pilsner malt my LHBS carries. I'm sure if I had beers made with each side by side I might be able to make out some kind of difference. I think...
