    Kegging without dedicated kegerator/freezer

I have a single tap on my Spare Fridge in the Garage. It holds 2 kegs and leftovers, milk, butter, kids lunches, etc. Works great for me. All though I am thinking of adding 2 more taps and removing 1 of the 3 remaining shelves so I can fit 6 kegs in it. ;)

Calculating Amount to Pitch from Harvested Yeast

I too would like some insight on what to enter in the MrMalty Calculator for washed yeast. I brewed a 12 gallon batch of CDA with an OG of 1.061. I made a 4 quart starter with 85ml of 2 1/2 week old washed 1450 on my stir plate based on MrMalty's default settings for slurry. Now I am worried...

How to force carb in a week?

I used Yooper's method. I set 2 kegs @ 30psi (Friday evening) for 36 hours then dialed back to 12psi (sunday morning) I just pulled a sample from both kegs (Monday evening) and both taste flat as can be. I need this carbed for our Christmas party on Sat. Will I be ok by then? Or should I be...

    gelatin finings?

I have a question about dry-hopping and gelatin. I have two kegs force carbing @ 12psi - 39F. Each keg has 2oz of pellet hops in a fine nylon mesh bag hanging from dental floss. I want to add the gelatin to clear this beer for Christmas, but do not want to remove the dry-hops because the aroma...

    New Replacement for March Pump

I was lucky enough to receive a free pump with stainless head from Mike. I used it for the first time this past Saturday, and it worked flawlessly!!!! It has now replaced my little giant 2-md. One thing everyone needs to make sure they do is disassemble the head and clean. There was a lot of...

    Yeast Starter Time Crunch

OOOOhhhh I've read about pitching at High Krausen. Yoop I have been lurking for a while, and if you are comfortable pitching that amount of starter without decanting then I am going for it. I have a question about 1450. The first time I made this beer I used US05 and mashed at 154 for 60...

    Yeast Starter Time Crunch

Thanks for the reply. I want to decant because I don't feel comfortable having almost 10% of my beer coming from a weak dme wort (I don't have a stir plate). What if I split the batch? I know Mr Malty calls for 2.5billion, but do you think I could get away with 2 smack packs with no starter...

    Yeast Starter Time Crunch

Hello Fellow Brewers, I just started using liquid yeast and starters on my last batch, so I am new to starters. I am going to be brewing 11.5 gallons of my Centennial Rye IPA (1.064 OG) on Saturday night. My plan was to make a 4 quart starter this afternoon (thurs) with 2 smack packs of...
