Brew Bucket by SS Brewing Technologies

I have about 7" of space above the brewbucket right now. I'll have to figure out if that will work with the domed lid, a 4" to 1.5" TC reducer and then the 1.5" 90 elbow hose barb for a blowoff. Any experience with this set up and how much space is required above the normal bucket lid?

Brew Bucket by SS Brewing Technologies

My understanding is that the domed lid helps with pressure. Plus the domed lid has a big tri clamp opening for dry hopping. Probably not necessary because all in I’m looking at another $100.

Brew Bucket by SS Brewing Technologies

Yeah, that's ultimately the conclusion I came to after thinking about it more. I'm debating whether or not to buy some additional accessories (domed lid and TC connections for blow off and CO2 pressure transfers which will run me an additional $100) or spending a bit more and getting a Spike 7...

    Where do you buy shanks/faucets/etc?

Www.brewhardware.com Bought regulators and all gas and beer assembly items. Best prices I could find. And Bobby is extremely helpful.

What about something like this? https://www.brewershardware.com/3-4-Tri-Clover-Compatible-Tri-Clamp-Ball-Valve-Quick-Clean.html?category_id=314 Then would it just be a matter of finding a matching TC ferrule to be welded onto the bucket? This is all new to me, I don't know anything about TC...

Just curious, has anyone modified their racking valve on the brew bucket by welding / soldering a TC connection?

Need feedback on Belgian dubbel recipe

I just brewed a Dubbel on Sunday mashing at 150. OG of 1.072 with 14 oz of D-90 using 3787 it finished at 1.010 within 5 days.

    Wyeast Trappist 3787 is ridiculous!

And so I assume it isn’t crazy for this yeast to ferment down to 1.010 from 1.072 within 5 days? Mashed at 150.

    Wyeast Trappist 3787 is ridiculous!

I’ll be kegging it. Have it at 70 now and will raise it a degree a day up to 72 over the next two days. Do people recommend letting it sit at that temperature for the remainder or go even higher?

    Wyeast Trappist 3787 is ridiculous!

Realizing this thread is 4 years old I’d rather not start another. I just brewed a Dubbel with a 1.072 OG. Within one day of pitching a 1.4 L decanted starter the mason jar my blowoff tube was submerged in was filled with yeast. Two days after pitching at 68 the gravity reading was 1.020. I...

Wyeast 3944 and awful smell in witbier

One last question for you Dave, I guess you've had similar experience with this? I noticed the smell during fermentation and read that it was typical. I can pull it out and let it sit at room temperature for a bit. Would you recommend leaving it under pressure so it doesn't lose the carbonation?

Wyeast 3944 and awful smell in witbier

You think it will age out even in the keg? I though about purging the co2 a couple times a day. Not sure if that actually does anything but maybe.

Wyeast 3944 and awful smell in witbier

It was in for two weeks. This thing fermented like crazy. Within a day of pitching the yeast it was blowing out of the blow off tube. I made a starter using the pitch rate calculators. It fermented down to 1.005 within a couple days so it had over a week of conditioning.

Wyeast 3944 and awful smell in witbier

i just took my first taste after kegging and carbonating a Wit that I brewed using wyeast 3944. Everything I’ve read mentioned an awful smell during fermentation which I did experience. However it seems to have carried into the packaged beer and it’s completely terrible. I fermented in the mid...

Do I need to change the blow off tube?

I intend on keeping the blow off tube on rather than using an airlock. It's easier to keep it that way with my setup.

Do I need to change the blow off tube?

Trying to revive this thread a bit. I used 3944 Witbier for the first time and within a day it was blowing off significantly into a small mason jar with starsan. I took a gravity reading with my refractometer and it looks like it may have already fermented down to 1.008. Anyway, I'm going on a...

    Pellicle Photo Collection

This doesn’t quite seem to be the same as some of these other photos but just pitched 3944 into a Wit last night and this is the first I’ve seen a krausen with these large bubbles on top. Can someone put my mind at ease and ensure me this is not a pellicle beginning to form?

    First wit recipe mash question

Meant to include that info. Just using a cooler mash tun so any steps will be through infusions. I did intend to add half a pound of rice hulls.

    First wit recipe mash question

Question is around whether or not a protein rest is required or recommended when using flaked wheat in a Wit. The grain bill is below: 5 lb Pilsner 3 lb flaked wheat 2 lb Red wheat .5 lb carapils .5 lb flaked oats

Adding Coconut, Cacao Nibs and a Vanilla Bean

Any update how it turned out? I’m planning to make the coconut cacao and vanilla additions within the next day or so to the same beer.
