    Water From Airlock...Contamination?

Hello All, I just did a hydrometer reading. When I attempeted to place the stopper back onto the carboy, water from the airlock dripped into the fermenter. The fermentation is complete, which means there is alcohol in there. Will the bacteria from the water in the airlock contaminate...

Hey Guys, I usually leave my brew in the primary fermenter for a week before siphoning it into the secondary. Is it ok to send the brew to the secondary early if the krausen falls before that, say 4 or 5 days? Thanks!

    Fermenting at 80 Degrees

Hey All, I spent my day today brewinig a pumpkin ale, which I hope to be serving on Thanksgiving. I pitched the yeast at about 7pm and the yeast has really taken off, but the temp on the carboy is reading 80 degrees. I just put a fan on it to cool it down a bit. Is the slightly high temp...

    Starter Question

Hey All, I made a starter last night for a brew I'm making over the weekend. The yeast began taking off within an hour and was really cranking overnight. Now though there's really not much activity in the growler. Should I be worried about the idea the yeast may have consumed all of...

    Heater for Fermenter

Thats a really good idea...Thank you. I actually just ordered a Brew Belt and plan on wrapping a towel around the carboy before applying the belt. I can't imagine something which is only 75 degrees will jeopardize the integrity of the carboy. If anyone knows differently, PLEASE LET ME...

I am sensing you guys aren't really happy with Austin Homebrew. I have ordered from them a few times and have been happy with all of their recipe kits. The selection is the best on the internet. Do any of you disagree?

    Thick Beer?

That really is great news...I was really mad about that when it hit me. I was thinking the sugar would have been more apt to spread evenly throughout the brew if it were in liquid form in the bottling bucket as opposed to the powder form. I will let it sit. IPA is really my favorite beer...

    Thick Beer?

    Thick Beer?

Hey Guys, About a month ago I manned-up and attempted my first mini-mash. It was an IPA and the beer has been in the bottle now for about 1.5 weeks. First there's still no carbonation (I messed up on that, so it was expected...Didnt boil the priming sugar...DOH!) I just tried the beer...
