    Nukatap, flow control or not

Thanks for all the answers! I went with the FC version, a bit more expensive but I figured what the heck, there seems to be no other downside since you can even fit a spring in these things if you want. Now I just need to find that 4mm Eva barrier line somewhere that ships to me, seems to be...

    Nukatap, flow control or not

I'm planning my first keezer build and looking over the equipment needed. I was thinking of going with Nukataps since they're somewhat affordable and seem to get a lot of praise. I don't know if I should choose the flow control version or standard though, is it actually useful or is it just...

First ever “Is my beer ruined” post

I've been brewing with a tilt hydrometer for 1,5 years now, and I get very wonky measurements sometimes despite calibration. Its value isn't in showing absolute values but rather in showing trends. I wouldn't worry.

    Water profile

There's a lot of posts on the subject but I think this is a nice write-up: Water Treatment for New England IPAs He gives a water profile there which is a good place to start. What is "best" will obviously depend on taste and what you aim for, some like neipas very round and full while others...

All of my beers are bad.

I was in a situation like this. I felt like all batches sucked. Malty beers just tasted a bit off and hoppy beers lacked hop flavor and all tasted same-ish. It mostly came down to water issues I think, probably a combination of wrong pH, chloramines and possibly overall bad combinations of...

    Juniper berries?

My guess too would be that you picked arborvitae berries. I haven't seen berries on the ones we have over here in Finland, but the leaf part looks like those and a google image search gives results like the ones you picked. The juniper berries we use for gin, sahti and as a spice is indeed the...

Grainfather G30 with false bottom issues

I tried using a false bottom with my GF for the first time today and it was a rather big failure. I bought it from my local HBS and it was sold as the official Robobrew false bottom that should fit perfectly into the GF. When testing it dry I had to bend the ring in the middle but other than...

    AG never finish attenuating

Might be obvious but you didn't mention how much yeast you pitch, and do you aerate at all?

Does Lallemand Abbaye yeast ferment very fast?

Yeah Lallemand Abbaye is fast, my last brew with it was very close to FG in two days, but like @thehaze said you're most likely better off letting it sit for 10-14 days, I'd do 12 minimum for beers like this.

    brewed my first dubbel

Not OP but I did a dubbel with the Lallemand Abbaye yeast which turned out nice IMO, I fermented it at ~21-22c. What was your temp?

    What's a worse feeling?

I have plenty of stir bars in the woods behind my house and usually one or two in my compost.

    What are you drinking now?

Iberico ribs on the smoker with a nice homebrew kolsch that has been a week in the keg.

New post a picture of your pint

Cracked open a bottle of Dubbel I made for Christmas. Aroma and taste is great, just wish it had a bit more carbonation and proper head retention.

    When is a kolsch done?

I also happen to have a kolsch that has been 7 days in the keg now. I tried it earlier today and it's really good, almost completely clear and nice taste. I suspect it will be in its prime in a week, the carbonation is not quite where I want it yet. The gravity sample from the fermenter was...

Long time lurker, decided to join formally

Thanks! I've done a lot of small batches (<10 liter), many with extract too, especially around 2018 when I was figuring out some off-flavors I had. And I still brew a lot of 10 liter batches if it's a stronger beer or just something I'm not sure how it will turn out. Wow, thanks a lot!! :mug:

Long time lurker, decided to join formally

Hello from Finland! I started homebrewing in 2017 after taking a full day course, so I jumped straight into all grain BIAB. Been reading this forum the whole time now and then since there's usually topics to be found here on any question that might arise. I'm still by no means an expert in...
