    Domestic Ingredients

Thanks for this resource. Looks like I'll need to stop at one or more of these maltsters on my next road trip. I am 7 miles from my RiteBrew and therefore only 30 miles from Briess so I use almost exclusively Briess malts. I consider Briess local but not a "craft" malter. Anyway they are not...

Save Pill signal locally before it goes to the cloud?

Since I have a Rapt Pill and a few extra Pi's lying around, and since I enjoy tinkering, I may need to give this a try. Thanks for posting the resources.

Save Pill signal locally before it goes to the cloud?

@OpenFermenter Check out this post from pocketmon. Sounds like he was able to use Bluetooth to connect to the Rapt pill. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/kegland-rapt-pill-floating-hydrometer-temperature-monitor.699057/page-7

Yeast starter for pressure lager (~68 F ferm)

For my first try I'll pitch directly from the pouch. If the results are not acceptable then I'll try a simple rehydration before pitch. If that doesn't produce acceptable results then I'll ask for help again. Thanks all for sharing your experience.

Yeast starter for pressure lager (~68 F ferm)

Good info. To clarify, you're not making a starter at all? Just pitching the dry lager yeast right on top of the wort in the ferm when it's near 68 deg?

    35% Hydrogen Peroxide for sanitation

Sounds like I will be sanitized by 8pm tonight.

Yeast starter for pressure lager (~68 F ferm)

I just finished my first keezer and in the process I couldn't pass up a few extra corny kegs at a good price. So now I am researching how to pressure ferment a lager at ale temps. Everything I've read and watched on YouTube says something to the effect, "Make a yeast starter, then pitch the...

    Need help kicking the bottles

I saw a post here a while back where the OP used an old patient lift (acquired for almost nothing on Marketplace or Craigslist) for his BIAB process. If the lift were high enough to get kegs in/out of your kegerator that might be a solution. Although as I write this I think the legs of the lift...

    Flotit

Yeah we might respectfully disagree on a few points here! Working from the bottom up... I've not see the air bubble issue, I'll try that in a small glass container to see if I can reproduce it. However if the keg was purged with CO2, presumably that would be a CO2 bubble not an air bubble...

Taplist.io Free Version - Not Allowing Tapping a Keg

I discovered the same issue (bug?). I find taplist.io fun and sometimes frustrating because there are probably too many ways to move a keg from one tap or list to another. It seems the "must upgrade!" notification gets thrown when following one method of moving a keg but not another for the same...

Need help identifying this piece of gear

Huh. Self-serve beer at a commercial establishment. Never heard/seen this. Apparently I don't get out much.

    Keezer Brag

With the help of HBT I have finally kicked bottles. I set a budget of $600 for the project and due in large part to a "splurge" on the drip tray, I went about $150 over budget. That includes everything you see in the pics, with a total of 7 corny kegs. It's currently set up for 3 taps. Part of...

    Kegland Inline Regulators?

I bought one to try out on my first keezer build (will be posting a "brag" thread in a few minutes). Two observations: (1) The gauge is useless (2) It seems to take a long time to "settle" into a new setting. For these reasons I decided to use a "traditional" 3-bank secondary. Since I want 5 gas...

    Flotit

I have recently started kegging and doing closed transfers from FV to keg. After reading many reviews and watching many videos I settled on the process and equipment detailed in this HBT post including the FlotIT. So far I have flawlessly transferred 3 batches with this process (FlotIT on the FV...

    Taplist.io Keg Level Manager

You had me until I discovered a paid subscription is required with taplist.io. Their lowest-cost subscription is $39USD/month. That is a reasonable price for a pub that wants to streamline their menus, but it is a bit too much for the homebrewer. Dang.

Kegland Rapt Pill floating hydrometer temperature monitor

I just discovered that @ velocity and @ ABV and @ Gravity are users and may receive an unintentional notification from this thread. Oops! Sorry in advance.

Kegland Rapt Pill floating hydrometer temperature monitor

Since this looks like the RAPT pill repository, here is my REVIEW and FEATURE REQUEST. I've had my RAPT pill (with wireless charging coil) for about a month. After installing the charging coil and fully charging, I calibrated it then put it in a pail of water in my fermenting closet to make...

What To Look For in a Grain Mill?

I picked up a brand new geared 2-roller mill on marketplace for $90. Gapped it to 0.024 and works great for BIAB.

Is a Spunding Valve a "diode"?

Sometimes I should just trust my instincts. Thanks everyone.

Is a Spunding Valve a "diode"?

While researching my impending keezer project, I have fallen into another rabbit hole: CO2 exclusion. That research led me to the use of the Spunding Valve. That research left me with a basic question that I cannot answer even with the power of Google and Duck Duck Go: Is a Spunding Valve a...
