    Mini Kegs

Hello, Anyone use one of the mini kegs, usually aroung 128-135 oz's. Curious how well they work at carbonating and maintaining the beer ? Any recommendations on specific type/model ? How long does it usually take ? Believe they use 16-20 gm CO2 cartridges. Thanks for any info.

    Best method/recipe to Carbonate

Hello, Have a gluten free beer that is currently fermenting ... that is going very well. OG reading of 1.081 so it should have a fairly high ABV when done. Used Nottingham Ale Yeast, 11g. Plan on leaving it in the fermenter for at least two weeks and taking FG readings to make sure it...

    OG reading/fermentation

Hello, Is there an issue with posting same content in two different forums ? Keep seeing reference to Duplicate thread ... posted twice because sometimes have difficulty if I only post in Gluten free section. Thanks

    OG reading/fermentation

Hello, I did use a yeast nutrient along with the yeast. The fermentation is going very well, at this point. 48 hours since yeast was pitched and I have bubbling in airlock every one to two seconds, thick Kraussen, and good movement in the wort. Plan on leaving it alone for at least two weeks...

    OG Readings

Hi, used Nottingham Ale yeast, 11 g. Don’t know what the attenuation is on this particular yeast. Don’t know if it matters but in the kettle I started with 3 gallons of water for the hour boil. I then cooled that and added it to two more gallons of water And it all went into the car boy. then...

    Poor carbonation

I got to go there ... if in another week ot two the carbonation does not improve does anyone have a recommendation for a safe amount of sugar to introduce to each bottle ? And what type, ie. Honey, table sugar etc. Not saying I would do it but definltely curious. Could I keg it or use a "soda...

    Poor carbonation

Hello, Think I will leave it be for now and see how they are in a week. I am fairly sure that the issue was with how I transferred the beer to the bottling bucket. The beer looks good and tasted good but would of course be much better if it was better carbonated. Thanks all for the input.

    Poor carbonation

Interesting, so anything else I can do at this point ? I took the beer that I placed in the fridge yesterday at app. 1000 AM out and am going to leave it at app. 68 degrees for a week or so and see if that improves the carbonation. The other 12 beers that I never put in the fridge I will leave...

    Poor carbonation

Hello, Thanks for your comments. Used Safale S-04 Dry Ale Yeast, 11.5 gms. I did use 5 oz.'s of priming sugar and mixed in with the Wort before bottling. Not sure what cold crash means exactly, but I left the beer bottled and out a room temp of app. 68 degrees for two weeks and then put half...

    Poor carbonation

Hello, Have done three batches now with fine carbonation, not on my most recent. Did a 5 gal. batch of Amber Ale and actually had the best fermentation I have ever done. OG was 1.060/ FG was 1.014 which was confirmed with readings two days apart. Fermented for 16 days and then...

    Siphon Trouble

Hello, Was attempting to move 5 gal's of Wort from 6 gal. Carboy to bottling bucket today. The Carboy is app. 19.5" high at the neck. The autosiphon I have is not long enough for this Carboy, poor planning on my part. I have a racking tube which is more than long enough, however could not...

    sprinke or re-hydrate

Hello, Thanks for the information. Yes the Krausen dropped to the bottom several days ago. Have a very visible layer of Trubb on the bottom. Airlock bubbles app. one small one every 20 seconds. Slight movement of surface liquid with very small light bubbling, probably the off gassing of the...

    sprinke or re-hydrate

Hello, Hard to tell how clear with flashlight as the this is a dark amber ale, hard to see through. Weak bubble in airlock every 22-23 seconds. Small bubbles on surface fairly steadily, think I might take a SG reading tomorrow or the next day and see where it is. Quick question, this is a...

    sprinke or re-hydrate

Hello, follow up question on my original post. Has been in Carboy for two weeks today and is still showing active fermetnation, ie. bubbles slowly rising to top of wort and airlock bubbling once every 15-20 seconds. I am inclined to leave it until no activity at all and then take...
