    Review of BeerSmith Book?

Okay cool. Its definitely worth reading. But if you are looking for something that goes in depth about the software then this isnt the book. I havent found a book that explains the software. Its been mostly trial and error for me.

    Review of BeerSmith Book?

I also use BeerSmith 2.0. If the book you're talking about is Brewing with BeerSmith then I would recommend reading it. Id say buy it used from Amazon if you can find it but it is very informative and has taught me a lot. As a companion to the software though, I'm not sure. There isnt a whole...

    Probably a dumb question haha.

Thanks for all of the responses. Im definitely gonna keep the 5 gallon. Especially since im just starting out and im not ready to tackle anything really complicated or doing anything over 5 gallon batches

    Probably a dumb question haha.

I recently bought a cooler from Home Depot (one of the decent orange ones) to turn into a mash tun. My problem is that without thinking I bought a 5 gallon instead of a 10. Would a five gallon be useful during 5 gallon brews? If not I was thinking about using it for smaller or test brews or just...

    Question about gravity and bottling.

This is quite true. Which is why I usually wait a week more than the directions say when I brew with a kit. I'm just excited about this brew because stouts are my favorite haha. I'm definitely gonna wait and do a couple more hydro tests. I want to get that final G down to at least 1.012. If I...

    Question about gravity and bottling.

Okay I mistyped haha. Beginning gravity is said to be 1.043-1.045. Its now down to 1.020 though it says the Final gravity should be 1.010-1.012

    Question about gravity and bottling.

I'm brewing an Irish Stout at the moment. This is coming from an extract kit. The kit states that I should have started fermenting with a gravity of 1.020. Which I did. They say that you can bottle in about a week. I usually wait two weeks before bottling beer I've made from a kit. The kit also...

    Hops Growing Question

I'm planning on growing my own hops shortly. My question is about storing them until planted. With rhizomes, how long can they be stored and how do I store them until planted? If they need stored for longer than I expect should I find a way to grow from seeds instead? And lastly, can I get hops...

    Getting a more hoppy flavor.

Thanks for the info. I didnt know if it would really screw up the recipe if i added another ounce or if id lose a whole lot of hop flavor if I split them up that way. I really enjoy hoppier beers so I figured Id go ahead and try a hoppy Amber.

    Getting a more hoppy flavor.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have another recipe kit that uses the same hops. I think I will just use the hops out of that kit to add at 15 mins. I can always order more hops for that kit as Im not brewing that until mid March cause my friend wants to see how its done.

    Getting a more hoppy flavor.

I am brewing tomorrow with a premade kit. the came with one ounce of hops to add at 60 mins. I kind of want to get a more hoppy beer with this kit. Can i do 1/2 oz at 60 mins and 1/2 oz at 30 or 15 to achieve more of a hop flavor or should I just stick with the original recipe?

Awesome. I'll definitely have to give them a shot. I've been ordering all of my stuff from monsterbrew and really enjoy their service. I'm just trying to find something where the shipping isn't so very expensive
