Need Your Recommendations for BIAB IPA Recipes

Yeah, you'll want to rinse with fresh water, otherwise some of the wort and sugars could just end up trapped back inside of the grain. I don't know how much of an impact it would have since I have never done it that way. Experimenting is certainly the best way to determine what works best for...

Need Your Recommendations for BIAB IPA Recipes

If you are recirculating during the mash, that mostly eliminates the need to stir the mash as I suggested previously. 👍

Need Your Recommendations for BIAB IPA Recipes

I think the reputation for being lower in efficiency is somewhat founded with all other parts of the process being equal. In my experience, it's the non-traditional BIAB steps that bring the numbers closer to traditional multi-vessel all grain brewing (fine crush, sparging, squeezing the bag...

Need Your Recommendations for BIAB IPA Recipes

For what it’s worth, I mash for 45 minutes, mash out, drain the bag and boil for 60 minutes for 90% of my brews.

RO is a great plan. You can basically build your water profile from the ground up.

You could always start with something simple like the Bell's Two Hearted Ale inspired clone recipe from Bell's General Store: Batch Size: 5.00 gal Estimated OG: 1.065 SG Estimated Color: 6.2 SRM Estimated IBU: 62 IBUs Brewhouse Efficiency: 66.00 % Boil Time: 60 Minutes Mash Temp: 150F 10...

    Preferred software for brewers

It's an overdue, much needed step in the right direction, but as a PC guy, the whole drag and drop, copy and paste functionality is something that I don't think I'll ever want to give up. I also like being able to have multiple recipes open at once for comparison. If Brad heads in that direction...

I find this method to be the easiest with Beersmith.

    Preferred software for brewers

Yeah, it would definitely be worth it to have a dedicated device that logs to Brewfather. A spare phone or tablet, a cheap RaspberryPi, anything. If you are a Brewfather user, you won’t regret it. I am primarily a Beersmith user, holding onto hope that Brad will make the improvements to go...

Didn’t you mean that the other way around? Brewfather’s Tilt integration is one of the few reasons I have considered switching from BS to BF.

    Motor for barley crusher

I have this exact motor and it works great. I can't recall what brand of mill I have (the wife bought it as a gift and said it was the Barley Crusher) but the coupler included with this motor would not fit the mill shaft. I ended up finding one that worked on Amazon and it's been a rock star.

Indiana 1-Gallon Brewers: Take My Siphonless Glass Little Big Mouth Bubblers (3)

Are they the ones with the spigot? I had two of them as well as two non-spigot ones, but one of the ones with the spigot cracked around where they drilled the hole for the spigot. Never have had an issue with the other two. I mostly do 3 to 3.5 gallon batches, but I do love those LBMB's for...

    Coors lite Clone Recipe

I think the point isn't that they are hard to brew (they absolutely are not) but it could be very discouraging if all of the flaws in the brewer's source water and process completely ruin their first brew. This is just my opinion, but I am glad I started out in a more safe zone with pale ales...

    Best Equipment for new brewers

Absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying simpler brews! While I do love a good IPA, stout and Belgian beer, I like to keep at least one or two lighter brews on tap at all times to mix it up and to give my palate a break.

    Best Equipment for new brewers

@palmtrees and @GrowleyMonster both touched on some really good points. I bottled for a few years before kegging and learned a hell of a lot not only about the entire brewing and bottling process, but the kind of beer drinker that I and my friends/family are. By the time I began kegging, I was...

    Pliny The Elder Yeast Amount

Depending on what yeast you used and your mash temp, you may have ended up right where you need to be with that OG. Mashing at 150 and using US-05 should end at around 1.010. Depending on the ABV calculator you use, this could be anywhere from 7.9% to 8.2%. For that recipe and assuming you are...

Oh yeah. I think I was stuck on the 8.3% ABV. I don't know, I just woke up.

@KDogg , what recipe did you use? I'm curious to see the numbers and grain bill.
