What was your biggest mess up when doing a homebrew??

Once got yeast starters mixed up and accidentally pitched Hefe yeast into imperial stout wort. So gross.

Red Robin. Is it going downhill where you live?

Last time I was at a RR, I found the beer selection to be underwhelming and the burgers to be just average. Not bad, but not good. As we were about to pay, my girlfriend accidentally ripped a large fart on the vinyl booth seat, which served to amplify it... So between the meh food and beer and...

Your Story Behind Choosing Your User Name/Handle?

Well, mine is pretty complex... I brew, my name is Brad, and I was born in 82. Yeah, pretty terrible on the creative front. But I do enjoy Monty Python and Tim the Enchanter is one of the best characters, so that is my avatar. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

Help me fix my snowblower so I can RAHAHB

Be sure that there is sufficient oil in the crankcase. There is a sensor in there that will kill the ignition circuit if the oil level is low. As a new engine, you will want to change the oil either way.

Are draft towers always short on room?

Look at gooseneck tower shanks. Instead of the beverage tubing coming straight out, the goosenecks point the barb straight down to give you a lot more room to work with.

    I Quit Smoking

I'm 3 years, 3 months and 4 days of being smoke free. I missed it for a few weeks, then got over it pretty quickly. Its amazing how much better I feel, how much better I can taste things, and I quickly realized how nose-blind I had been. Boy does cig smoke stink! I'm never going back.

    Carboy Heatbelt or Pad Recommendations?

I have a few of these and they work great. More than enough wattage to heat into the upper 80s depending on ambient conditions. https://www.northernbrewer.com/products/fermotemp-electric-fermentation-heater Use a temp controller and you are good to go.

What did I cook this weekend.....

Only the brown ones are referred to as jimmies, the colored ones are still called sprinkles. At least in the parlance of the upper midwest...

    Keg kit missing pieces??

Heat a coffee mug of water in the microwave to near boiling. Soak the ends of the tubing in the hot water to soften it up and then push it over the barbs.

Those are the burner tips themselves.

Midwest kit question: No bittering hops?

If doing the extract version, a 15 min boil is perfectly fine. If all-grain, you still want to boil for the full hour to volatilize DMS precursors. If you boil the all-grain version for only 15 mins, you will most likely have a bit of DMS in the final beer.

    Pot Moving Ideas

Perhaps look into aluminum extrusion sliders. They should easily handle the weight.

Anyone got an approximate evaporation rate for a 10 gallon Bayou Classic?

Fill the kettle with water and boil for an hour. See how much you lose. Edit: I missed mongoose's last line above. Half hour boil works too if you do the multiplier.

Go Ferm Protect Heavy Metals Calculation

Your thinking assumes that water and Go Ferm have the same density. I highly doubt a liter of Go Ferm weighs 1kg.
