    Wyeast london ale 3 question

I'd let it be. 77% is normal for 1318. What did you mash at and what was your recipe? I've become a big fan of 1318. These types of IPAs are suppose to have some residual sweetness and understand with an FG like that there will be a good body to the beer as well. A full body is very important...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Brau, I'm kegging my next NE style IPA. Will be my first time kegging and I can't wait to do it! Trying to research as much as possible to nail down the steps but I still plan to add a couple ounces into the fermenter around day 5-7 and then thought about adding the last ounces in the serving...

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

The post didn't thread all the way but doing a mock trial with just water it seems like it will work (it wasn't hooked up to lines though because my kegerator is not here yet). The only issue I could see having is the spring in the post not being compressed enough since the post doesn't thread...

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

The keg will be empty because it just kicked so why not just pull the liquid out post because I'm getting ready to clean the keg anyways. Clean the lines at the same time so they're good to go before you throw the next beer on. As long as it fits it should be ok to use right? I'm just...

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

I'm going to start kegging soon and got a kegerator. When I'm cleaning the keg I'll clean that line it was just on so is there any reason why I couldn't pull the liquid post off the keg and connect it to this pump (as long as it fits)? Then just clean the post and reattach to keg? Sorry if...

Yes you can still shake no problem.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My latest batch that I have posted on here (pic and recipe) is good but I wouldn't mind the IBUs being a little bit lower. I make 3 gallon batches (into the fermenter) at the moment. The most recent beer was OG of 1.054, ABV around 5.2% and estimated IBU of 17. I put .2 oz of Columbus in at 60...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I bet losing the dextrose will get you where you want to be. Mashing a little higher could be something to think about additionally.

    Crazy vigorous fermentation

It's ok. Good learning experience. We've all done it probably. Next time seal up the beer with your bung/airlock or bung/blow off tube and put it in a place to cool down to the proper temp. As long as you have a clean vessel and is properly sanitized nothing will get in there and bother it...

1318 and off flavor a from high ferment temps

I think the range for 1318 does go as high as 72 so you might be ok. All you can do is relax and let time heal any wounds if there are any.

    Crazy vigorous fermentation

Let it ride. Pitching at 95* will cause a lot of esters to be produced. What yeast are you using? Always pitch at the proper temperature (62-65 degrees is optimal). If you have to let it cool overnight that's fine. I've done it many of times with no issues. It's also pretty vigorous because...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Good looking beer. Sweet looking hop combo. Agree with stickyfinger, bring down sulfate and loose dextrose.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

This beer was: 31% 2 Row 31% Golden Promise 31% Flaked wheat and oats (use whatever percentages and amounts of each you want) 5% Carapils 2% Honey malt OG: 1.054

Closed system transfer from carboy to keg: What you need

I'm looking into kegging now! I'm going to get a kegerator with two taps, order some ball lock corny kegs but I'm having trouble figuring out what all I need for a closed CO2 transfer from my carboy to my keg. I'm ordering a kegerator, not putting one together so it's going to come with all the...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks Brau! The other tries I've done I haven't gotten that mouthfeel I was looking for or slight sweetness that plays with the hops. Others came across kinda harsh on the bitter, a little to much of a bite I'd say and kinda thin, dry on the back end as well. This one did have sweetness...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Great base recipe Braufessor. I tweaked and put flaked adjuncts up to 31%, carapils 5% and honey malt 2%. I think the honey malt provides a sweetness that is needed in this recipe. I also mashed super high at 156*. Will be using this base recipe and mash temp from now on for most, if not, all...

    Edgestar Dual Tap Kegerator

Thanks for the reply. I've heard about the tower issue and will look into how to fix, just to make sure I can handle the fix as I am not super handy!

    Edgestar Dual Tap Kegerator

I've tried to look up a little info on this kegerator and found some but was wondering people's experience on here, if you have any. Is it a good purchase? I really want to start kegging but can't pull the trigger on it after hearing some reviews. I know you can make a kegerator 'cheap' but...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Juicy pale ale. Looking forward to this getting carbed. Mosaic/Galaxy/Citra in 1.25/1/1 ratio then dry hopped with Galaxy/Mosaic in 2/1 ratio.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Other thing I can think of is scorching during the boil or if it's getting slightly oxidized if you bottle.
