    Strike Volume Measurement

Well....Hmmm... I guess my response would as follows: I am an incessant gear head and perfectionist... I am not looking for the "push-button" solution, but I am looking for ways to eliminate as many possible sources of variation (other than those by design in a specific batch) from my...

    Cooling long run

Didn't mean to kill the idea with the carbonation issue so I will offer a potential solution.. The route I would go faced with a similar challenge.. I would build the equivalent of a counter flow chiller using ,beer tubing instead of copper in a garden hose for the run upstairs + a return line...

    Cooling long run

You can pretty much assume you will be drinking flat beer... Any type of rotating pump would knock the CO2 out of solution right quick..

    Strike Volume Measurement

I am using a BCS-460 as well.. Here are my thoughts.. My HLT and MLT are "Keggles", straight sided.. Using the ID of the Keg I can easily calculate volume per inch of water (or fractions there-of).. I am think about mounting a vertical float switch on the end of a piece of SS Tubing.. I can...

    Strike Volume Measurement

So for you guys with fairly automated systems... How are you managing the strike water volume issue in an automated or semi-automated capacity? More specifically.. Can you tell your system to transfer X volume from HLT to MLT and walk away for a few minutes while the pump does it's thing...

Second Attempt at Metal Fab.. My Stand..

Great Point Simphoto02... I actually considered this quite a bit before I made my purchase.. At the end of the day most of the welds I will be doing are small and short, easily accomplished in 2 minutes or less.. When I need more I can just take my time.. Even though I have 220 service in the...

Second Attempt at Metal Fab.. My Stand..

I bought the Northern Tool Mig-135.. (Northern Industrial MIG Welder — 115 Volt, 22-135 Amp, Model# MIG 135 | Wirefeed Welders | Northern Tool + Equipment) I am pretty sure it is a re-branded Lincoln.. They look identical.. I have been very pleased with it.. I am running 75/25...

Second Attempt at Metal Fab.. My Stand..

Actually most of my truly crappy welds were out of my system byt the time I finished the stand for the welder.. And I intentionally didnt grind any of those down.. I wanted to be able to look at them in 4 or 5 years and gigle about how truly pathetic they were.. All but one or two of the welds...

Second Attempt at Metal Fab.. My Stand..

Thanks All.. It is an all-electric rig controlled by a BCS-460.. Actually gonna have both a Rims and Herms Circuit... Utilizing 10 solenoid valves, 8 Solid State Relays, Lotsa switches and buttons, and 4 Thermocouples.. Probably the neatest design element in my opinion is the purge...

Second Attempt at Metal Fab.. My Stand..

Ok.. So I actually went and purchased a mig welder to build this brewstand... I've fiddled around with an arc welder a few times but never built anything out of metal.. Here is my second attempt at metal fabrication... My first was last week when I built the stand for the welder.. Excuse...

    Hop Trellis Issues

It would likely be best to wait until the plant has gone dormant for the winter to move it again.. Just my 2c, and probably of less value than that because I am still first year with my plants..

    10 gallon Boil Amount?

I do exclusively 10 gallon batches in a Blingman... Here in the soggy south I shoot for a pre-boil volume of about 13 gallons inclusive of all extracts if they are being used..
