    Moving on and up

I think the point that @Sammy86 was trying to make is that it is the Brewer more then the equipment thatⁿ⁹ plays a major factor in beer quality. We have had some guys just starting to brew and the first or second batch they have ever made is in all new shiny equipment where they cannot see...

    Brewing from Helsinki!

Welcome to the forum, the sense of community and learning from each other is what makes this forum great. When we were visiting family in northern Finland, one old cousin made a homebrew that had very little alcohol but was tasty. Maybe rye based? No one drank on the farms we went to or...

    Temp Recommendations Cream Ale

I use NB big mouth bubblers and don't use secondaries. I have two 5 gal batches of cream ale from our clubs big brew day to transfer tomorrow. They have been in the fermenters for 4 weeks. The Nottingham was pretty much done fermenting after 5 days and was clearing. The US-05 was still slowly...

    Temp Recommendations Cream Ale

I have one in tap most of the time. Us-05 and Nottingham are my 2 most common yeast. Ferment around 66 first 5 days. Leaving in fermenter at least 3 weeks was a plus. After 2 weeks in the fridge/keg nice and clear.

Nugget is a monster of a hop

Now my Willamette and the nugget on outside of fence look like expected cones, but the nugget on inside fence has larger hops. Anyone know why this is?

Nugget is a monster of a hop

I think I have a few nuggets to pick.

Nugget is a monster of a hop

Well I only harvested 5 ounces wet of Willamette because the main bine broke about a foot from the ground during a storm. Nuggets are going to be amazing and I will get a few handfuls from the Diamonds Spring I planted end of May.

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Is the 8 amp the running/continuous rating? What is the surge or locked rotor current spec? It could be you are significantly exceeding the relay rated current long enough the contacts are eroding.

    Dig Hops while growin' ??

Did they survive the move and if so did they grow back this year?

About to order a bunch of hop plants, need some guidance

How tall is that and can they grow taller if they want? Since yours are old heritage, and more then one type, you may be surprised how well they work late boil for flavor and aroma too and not just for hop stand. I myself am interested and excited for you to see how these work out.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Looking at the recipe in the beginning of this the mash temp is 150f. Did it get edited somewhere in the 140+ pages? This was my first all grain, did it as biab and came out nice and light. Bottled and one carbed I put the bottles in the fridge for a month. Perfectly clear and did not last...

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

Yeah whenever we add a blue tooth module and wifi capability to a design we have to review all the paperwork to see if it needs to be submitted again. Tricky thing that agency. And that's all on top of supply chain issues and parts going end of life. If you can point me in the direction to put...

    Fermentation riddle

@Tippy-chea so what was the outcome? That is a lot of yeast in 15 liters. Did you check the gravity and see if it was done faster then you thought? Plus how sure were you about the seal on the fermenter?

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

I am sort of in the same boat. I am a pcb designer but by the time I log off of working on a customer design I am not up for learning something new. Soldering and assembly is not a big deal, it is the programming and printing cases and such. 40 years ago I was programming in machine...

The dreaded grain mill issues thread

Yep my MM3 came adjusted by former owner and it works fine for me, I am not going to touch it unless I have no choice.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

My brew club is mashing in a cream ale at local brew pub this weekend and giving out free wort to anyone who wants it. So far only 8 have committed plus 17 interested. So I may be making 5 or 10 gallons Saturday afternoon. Trying to decide if I fire up the propane pot and the Anvil and attempt...
