    rebuying gear

Do you plan to bottle or keg this fine brew? If using a bottling bucket look up on here about connecting the bottling wand to the spigot with only a few inches of hose. Then just lift bottle, fill and lower the bottle. Leaves great head space and you don't have to worry about the wand hitting...

    Picnic Tap 2.1

My 2.1 just came last week and I have been waiting for keg to carbonate and use it.

    BIAB VS All-In-One System

@Dave77 back to your question, I would suggest stay with biab for now and work on ferm temp control. I have a cold basement closet, approx 60f, so I use a ferm wrap and ink bird temp controller. That was the big step up in quality. I do have an Anvil but when I do brews with lots of hops I...

    Tilt Hydrometers

An old Fire tablet works as the bridge for me

First Fermentation with a Tilt - Questions

Did you set the ink ird to heat with a 1 degree drop? That and a Tshirt over fermenter allows it to maintain temps easier.

First Fermentation with a Tilt - Questions

I set an old Fire tablet in the room to act as a bridge to my network. I had mine set on the 15 minute report so I could see how fermentation works out. Now use 1 hour report so I don't see all the jiggling from fermentation.

    Spill pan for conical fermenter

Would a round cake pan work. Fit between the legs?

Another first timer needs your advice....

71-B is the one I like best. Ferments well and leaves a nice clean mead.

What came in the mail for you today?

I have a few 2.5g kegs so I can bottle a case for friends and have the little keg for myself.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I have the earlier version of the malt pipe which has holes around the sides and on bottom. They trap grain and are ever so much fun to clean out. The bag is good for that reason. The newer bottom may not require that but I don't know for sure. For now I just use the malt pipe, too lazy to have...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I went to HF and bought the large folding cart. I can fold down the handle and carry into house for winter brewing. In the garage I can roll it outside to clean or into corner for cleanup. Photo it was mashing in a buffalo sweat stout clone. Woke up, water was hot, put in grains and did my...

What Is The One Aspect of Brewing That Is Least Important to Brewing a Good Beer? (In Your Opinion)

I have not made a starter in the 5 years I have been brewing. Then again I don't do lagers. My sparge water, whether a dunk sparge biab or pouring sparge water in the mash tube in my Anvil is just water I heated in the microwave a few minutes so it is hot vs room temp.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Those Pale ales are a great way to see what they taste like without over powering the pallet. I love setting up a series of sample glasses with friends and seeing what they think.

You know you're a home brewer when?

When your friends run out of captain morgan and look in the pantry and fridge for beer and find a mixed case of mystery bottles of beer. many with different letters on the caps. Found that one with an M on it is wonderful but no idea what it is.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I make a pale using mosaic and cashmere hops that I really love. Noticably different from my other pale ales.

    Munich Classic - Hefe

It should have a hazy look to it. Now if you have to strain through the teeth that is too much 😉 You fermented it much colder then I ever have, I usually do 67 to get more balanced clove/banana flavor. I am interested to see how yours turns out.

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

I use some wheat in mine, really makes the head look good and beer is nice and crisp. I have used Us-05, Nottingham, Voss and House-01 for fermentation. I preferred the US-05 and House over the other two.

    Well $h!t ...

I bought the poly one after breaking a glass one. I also have a cheap refractometer. I use it during the boil to see how it is progressing and if I should let it boil an extra 15 minutes. Accurate? Not perfect as I know it reads a few points high. Oh and my mfg pre-cal Tilt from the factory...

    American Porter Chinooklehead Porter

Well I finally have time so brewing today. Using 0.3 ounce homegrown nugget at 30 minutes just because I have them. Substituted special roast for the brown malt. Plus C90 because they don't sell C80. Will have to see how it works out.
