    Drinking my first batch

+1 on the Irish Moss. I am a noob too. 2 batches so far and planning the 3rd in a couple weeks. I jumped straight into AG because I'm a glutton for punishment but I used Irish moss on my last two batches and they were both totally clear of flocculent. Now if I can figure out this stinking chill...

    Sea Water Gose

This is interesting. I am new to brewing beer though not so new to drinking it. However, I have never tasted a Gose. I am fascinated. Would you post the recipe or direct me to it if it is posted elsewhere? At my skill level I would probably be getting in over my head but that's kinda what I do...

    Smack pack weirdness...

Thanks. Fermentation took off with a vengeance! Guess I needed a little patience. I will start taking readings when it slows down. It got up to about 76*F so I moved it to a cooler location (68-70). Think that was a good move? This strain supposedly ferments well down to 65.

I am relieved! I'm glad it isn't blowing off since it is in my closet!!! Hadn't even thought about it getting messy on me!

    Smack pack weirdness...

I just brewed my second batch. An AG Pale Ale. Everything went very smoothly except there were some circumstances regarding the Wyeast British Ale smack pack that were inconsistent with my first batch (an AG Trappist). First, I activated the smack pack a good 6 or 7 hours before pitching. The...

    Cheers from Warsaw, MO

Haha! Yes it was! But I did a lot of research (though, I found out quickly there is much more to do!), and I had a "lifeline" who was just a phone call away. It was so much fun. I'm glad I did it this way.

    Cheers from Warsaw, MO

Well, I now have my first batch under my belt! An AG Trappist recipe. I decided to jump right in to AG as the science of it fascinated me. It's been bottled and conditioning for almost three weeks. I, of course, have been sampling every couple days. Not great, but by no means undrinkable. Slight...

    Hello from 29Palms!

I know what you mean. My wife and lived there for a while and I worked on base as a civilian contractor. I drank a lot of Miller. I'm new to the forum and the hobby, myself. I look forward to the learning process.
