    Jalapeno Poppers

Chorizo is super cheap but jalapenos are too. Usually around $1/lb and a pound is about 15 jalapenos so just buy a few extra. Also, chorizo in migas the next morning is a fantastic.

    Jalapeno Poppers

Typically the more "veins" on the jalapeno the more heat it has so buy ones that are slick on the outside. Soaking them in warm water can also help pull some of the heat out. That or don't eat peppers. You are removing the seeds, right?

    Jalapeno Poppers

This recipe sounds great, I'll have to give it a shot. I've made these a couple of times and they are fantastic. Go great with an IPA. Ingredients 2 links Mexican chorizo, casings removed 1/2 pound smoked gouda, shredded 1/4 cup finely chopped red onions 1 egg 1/2 cup cream...

    DIY Tap Handle?

I've cut glass bottles with a tile saw before, just go real slow and wear safety goggles. There are some other methods around for cutting glass if you don't have access to a saw, just google or go on Instructables. Oskar Blues actually uses their cans as their tap handles. Not incredibly...

    Beer Server Certification

I know a few guys that work at good beer bars/grocery stores that have gotten the certification over the last year. They thought that it was a great all around beer knowledge program but it was something they were able to get paid for by their place of employment. The main reason holding me...

I need help with my Belgian triple

No problem. Hopefully it will continue to get better with age. As for the cloudiness I'm not quite sure what to tell you since 99% of the time people are trying to get rid of the cloudiness. My tripels have all been relatively clear. My first thought is yeast, maybe try a different strain...

I need help with my Belgian triple

Usually a tripel should be carbed at 3-4 volumes. So, if you are carbing it through a CO2 tank and at 40F you would want the regulator set between 20-30 psi according to the force carbing charts. 12psi would only be 2.4 volumes. Give the higher pressure a shot for a week or two and see if it...

    DIY Tap Handle?

I have made a couple different ones and didn't really care for the threaded inserts from the hardware store. The handles I made are a little wider than most so it just didn't look or feel right. Instead I use a 3/8th - 16 UNC screw and glue it into the bottom of the tap handle. If you leave...

    Coffee-ing a PM Porter...

+1 more for the cold steeping. Cold steeping usually gives a very strong coffee and cuts down on the bitterness dramatically. Shouldn't add much of a watery taste at all.

    Indoor brewers!

If you needed something with a lip and don't move your rig then you could build a custom shower liner. Some 2x4s and a shower liner sheet would keep it from running off compared to just using a drop cloth. Tearing would be an issue but it is a pretty cheap repair.

    what pump for chilling

I use a Harbor Freight pump for my 1/2" 50" IC. This little guy does a great job. I paid like 12 bucks so if it dies I can live with it. Paid more for the PVC and the fittings. For now once I use tap water to get the temp down to 100-110 I put big frozen ice blocks above the pump in a 5...

    Fermenting Fridge Fixed

Just fixed my fermentation fridge and it was a bit of a pain in the ass to figure it out so I thought I would post in case someone else runs into the same problem. I have a 15 year old standing freezer that I've been using as a fermentation chamber. Found it on Craigslist and wired it up to...

    Tap Handles

Searched and found a couple of threads on DIY tap handles. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/diy-tap-handle-33455/ https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/my-diy-tap-handle-build-thread-steel-202208/ You can pretty much turn anything into a tap handle with a threaded insert. You can find them...

building a kegerator or buying one?

Check the reviews on Home Brew Talk, at least for the Danby. Couldn't find any reviews for the Haier but I'm sure if you hunt a little more. Sounds like there are some cheap parts on it but that it works pretty well out of the box. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f140/danby-dkc645bls-119303/...

Sweet Stout Left Hand Milk Stout Clone

Just poured one of these earlier tonight. Great beer. Very close to the original. Nothing I would really change about the recipe.

    Installed Taps In Different Room

My garage shares a wall with my kitchen/dining area so I just poked a hole in the wall to run some taps. Put some PVC between the kegerator and the hole in the wall and caulked around the edges. Ran the lines and then wrapped it with insulation (not shown in the pictures). About 2 feet of...

70 qt cooler? too thin a grain bed?

I use a 70 qt coleman extreme cooler and have done nothing but 5 gallon batches with it. No big issues at all 10 batches in aside from that it can be a pain to move around. I wanted something to do a 10 gallon big stout and this was cheaper than a 40qt. Also, I batch sparge. If you do use...

    DIY Stir Plate

Been looking to make one and just saw this earlier today. Haven't seen this particular design before and could be done for really cheap. Will definitely be my next project. http://makeprojects.com/Project/Homebrew-stirplate/277/1
