    Creme Brulee Stout

OK..First off, I've never tried the Southern Tier, but love creme brule. Would like to try something like this. That being said, would adding some vanilla extract to the bottling bucket bring out more vanilla flavor. Also, instead of the carmelized sugar, what about throwing a handful of...

    Central Ohio Group Buy?

Hey Wolfhound. I'm in Cincinnati, but think the gas costs to Columbus and back would probably eat up the savings on the grain. Good luck though. Wish there was one down here.

    Pellet hops question

Thanks......Sounds like it really doesn't matter much either way if you dump in the hops or not.

    should i be concerned?

One concern is the small hole the airlock goes in. if it gets clogged with hops or krausen, pressue could build and blow the top off and make quite a mess. On solution would be to lossen you lid (after relieving pressure through the hole) and just set the lid on top. Don't snap it down...

I've bought kits from both Austins and Norther Brewer and both had instructions. Same with Brewer's Best kits. NB has the recipies/instructions on thier website, so you can see beforehand what the instructions will be.

    Pellet hops question

I've always thrown the pellets directly in the boil. Recently switched from extract to BIAB. Have 2 paint strainer bags. If I use a bag with the pellets, will it keep them contained, or will the disolved pellets just go through the bag? Secondly, does it even make a difference in taste if the...

    Forgot the priming sugar!!!!!

Your beer will be flat if you don't add some sugar to the bottles. If you don't have carb drops or corn sugar, you can use a teaspoon of table sugar per bottle. Pain to have to open and recap, but probably your best option at this point.

    Hops Growing in my yard.

'' FREE- try em out with a light profile beer and see if you like em. If so they are "house strain". As long as they make good beer, that's all that counts.

will this work to ferment in

Guessing it would be OK, but you might look into the 7.9 gallon fermentor sold by a lot of homebrew stores. Even more head space. It's what I have and even with it, a 5 gallon barleywine overflowed it.

    Flat beer (so far)

Did it even give a little hiss when you opened the bottle? Or just nothing. Usually you would expect some carbonation after 2 weeks. Maybe a bad seal on the cap. Hope you didn't forget the prining sugar.

    First brew and pics

30 days in the hole should teach 'em a lesson. Like how to taste better, be better carbed and clearer.

Too much water - Quick Question

I think you'd be fine just boiling it 15 minutes for sanitation purposes. Probably don't even need to do that, but better to do it to be on safe side. A lot of people don't add most of the extract until near the end of the boil. Supposed to turn out better that way. I don't think the hot and...
