Will adding fruit to secondary restart fermentation?

Thank you all for the help. I think I have a pretty good idea of what my options are and what the potential outcomes will be. Cheers, Pat

Will adding fruit to secondary restart fermentation?

What if fermentation has stopped due to lack if available sugars? I'm using ec-1118 and only making an 11% mead, so not stopping fermentation that way. I'm aging in carboys around 70*F, willthe yeast just die after awhile? Like 6 months? a year? or will they stay viable? If they will stay...

    Show off your fermentation chambers

Running 2 chest freezers with heat wraps/ heat plate imside so that they are 100% temp controlled. Running two of them so I can cold crash and primary ferment at the same time when needed.

    Show your BIAB Stand/Set up

Went for minimum footprint on this build due to lack of storage space. 2'x2' footprint, rotating pulley arm, automated ball valves, electric heating. 5-15 gallon batches.

Spacing for BG14 burners and keggle's

3-4" should be fine. I use a piece of 4x4 lumber (actual size 3.5") as a spacer when I make my stands. My buddy does 4" I think.

Will adding fruit to secondary restart fermentation?

I have my first batch of mead going and want to add fruit. I made 10 gallons and split it into 2 carboys for secondary. It was 1.006 when I transferred to secondary. It is 4 months old now (planning to do a gravity/taste test at 6 months and see if I am going to bottle then or stay in carboys...

    Big? BIAB setup

This was to be the prototype for my newest model (been selling stands on craigslist for a bit), but things have changed. Was planning to keep this out of the public eye until I had a few made and ready to sell since it is so simple that anyone can make it, but I'm going back to school and won't...

    Extremely high OG

Thanks. Lower temp will actually be better for the beer anyways. I was running a little higher for this to try and make fermentation take off more.

    Extremely high OG

I decided to try mead and ended up with an OG off the scale. IF the calibration were to continue the same beyond the markings as it does during the markings my OG is around 1.2. I know this is way too high, even if my ec-1118 gets all the way to 18% my mead will still be grossly sweet. My...

I generally hate customer service, but...

I just got off the phone with PG&E and they are amazing! I'm changing over to electric brewing and need to upgrade my breaker box to accommodate the change (additionally I can't use the full potential of my welder right now because I only have a 100amp breaker box). Normally when I call...

    Help controlling motorized ball valves

Thanks thevalkrye, I am set though. Using the woring diagrams that the other person posted I was actually able to build a system using a rocker switch and a momentary switch and get the valve to be a metering valve which is awesome as NO or NC would have been a pain to use. I appreciate your...

    Help controlling motorized ball valves

day trippr: Thanks a bunch! that is totally what I need! Playing with the valves on a dc power supply I have I can get them to open and close. the 3 way can't be used for metering so thinking a simple switch for that one, but the normal ball valve will meter if power is only attached breifly so...

    Help controlling motorized ball valves

day trippr, thanks for the heads up about using a rectifier. I like the sound of a $3 12v unit. Do you mind telling me the model number? And I'll get info on my valves posted when I get home. Thanks, Pat

    Help controlling motorized ball valves

First, thank you for your reply. Second, to answer your question: partly because I essentially got the valves for free and partly because I will have a control box for my heating element anyways so why not make it slightly larger. I understand that I need a dc power source. I thought about a...

    Help controlling motorized ball valves

I literally spent the last 5 hours searching the internet and this site to tey and figure this out, but clearly I don't even know enough to know what to search for. I got a bunch of motorized ball valves in a lot of brew fittings and would like to incorporate them into my system...

California All Grain Brew Setup. keggles, RIMS

also, kegs sit on recessed supports so that it is impossible to slide them off the edge. (obviously this is during the build, but shows supports nicely)
