    Let's Talk Growlers

So I was planning on bottling my next 5 gallon batch with 8 growlers and 12 bottles to reduce on bottling and when we break out the home brew, 4 pints is usually the minimum that we drink. I've read several threads here, quite old, saying that screw on tops are not good for homebrew and meant...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Nothing like going to a bar that has Bud, Bud Light, Heineken, Amstel, Sam Summer and Sam Coastal Wheat! So many to choose from!

    Overrated Breweries at GABF

So now we're talking a "micro-brew" that's overhyped compared to others that are what we call "not as successful". Is he just playing "I know this breweries name, so their beer should be better" game? I'm not sure what his goal is outside of saying the overhyped/successful microbreweries aren't...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Genesee "Genny" Lite. Ugh. I wish I was you. I'm no fan of Sam Light but the worst beer? Jesus. I can think of 30 I'd rather never have again over a Sam Light. For "Microbrews" (if you consider Harpoon one) then Winter Warmer in a run away. God that stuff is awful. Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic...

First batch down the f'in drain...

I'm with you. I just did batches 4 & 5. After batch 3 which sucked I took 6 months off, but now I want to go buy another fermenter and do another batch. After reading this site for the last couple weeks I feelike starting a "Things I did wrong" thread, but I'm sure they'll be good.

    Fermentation Temp

Thanks, its in a towel now due to it being in a semi-trunslusent plastic. I'm sure it'll be fine in a few weeks!

    Fermentation Temp

Based off what I've read here and my previous couple batches, I'm thinking I'm going to just leave it the primary. Just got back from the local brew shop with a new fermenter to do a new batch tomorrow so its probably going right next to it! Thanks. This has to be the most helpful forum I've...

    Fermentation Temp

After getting some great advice earlier on my first post, I have a quick question. I brewed an ale 6 days ago and fermenting seems to be going fine. After reading this week about temps and fermentation. I used the White Labs WLP002 which says optimal is between 65-68. The room its in is...

    Foam Residue

Thanks for the quick response. I'm going down to the brew shop after traffic dies down and getting another fermenter and I'll get a blow off tube. Sounds good. It's calmed down after the first day or two and not really bubbling much at all now. I'm guessing this will work out fine.

    Foam Residue

This is a complete beginner question but, I've done 4 batches now last night I brewed a pale ale last weekend, started fermenting after about 15 hours, which was fine. The next morning, the top of the fermenter was covered in crap from the beer fermenting and the air lock blown off. Is this...
