Has anyone seen this?! (yeast starter saga)

Apparently this guy is a 33 year old hip-hop veteran and is UNBIASED because he's in CANADA... I'm not even going to try to explain how wrong he really is. He has to be a troll! THAT IS THE ONLY EXPLANATION.

Has anyone seen this?! (yeast starter saga)

God damn. This guy asks for advice from people more knowledgeable then him, and then tells them they're wrong and he's right when they help him out. What a dick.

How long will a drink cooler hold temp of hot liquor?

Most coolers have hollow lids, so it would be wise of you to either spray some foam insulation in there or wrap the whole thing in a blanket (making sure to really cover the lid). I wrap in a blanket and only lose about 1 degree in a 90 minute mash.

    Cloudy Krausen... Warm Temps...

Yeah, the water is only about an inch or two from the top of the beer, hovering at around 64. Thanks for the reassuring words, guys. I have to learn to trust my yeast.

    Cloudy Krausen... Warm Temps...

I have an altbier in the primary right now (OG 1.056). Pitched on Wednesday (3/30) morning. Strong krausen at 9 am the next day. Using White Labs German Ale/Kolsch WLP029 with a 1 L starter. Ferm temp for the first day was mid 60's (64-68) but when I came home from work on Thursday at...

How do I make a big beer in a small cooler?

This is why I don't feel so bad that I accidentally bought a 5 gal cooler. Once I upgrade to a 10 gal I already have a pre-built 5 gal HLT for a 3 tier!

    when to add maltodextrin?

I've read of people using anywhere from 4-8oz in a 5 gallon batch. I used 8oz in an oatmeal stout kit from my lhbs. So you should be plenty fine.

How do I make a big beer in a small cooler?

The easiest way I could think is plan your AG recipe, then plug it into software. Then start replacing your base malt with pale (or extra pale) DME until you reach your equilibrium of OG and max grain you can fit in your cooler.

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

I built my 5 gallon MLT (bought the cooler online and could have sworn it said 10 gallon, but decided to keep the 5 gallon cuz it would be too much of a hassle to return it) the other day. No leaks and total cost right around $60 (I may have gotten the five finger discount on a few things at my...
