    gonna make some wort to freeze, for starters

    When I grow up yeast for a batch, I generally will make up new. The canning process does produce break in the jar that I don’t care for. It’s my easy backup to keep everything going. I’m not into freezing and wondering and leaving anything to chance. To each their own, just how I personally roll.

    I pressure can 18 quarts at a time. I only use that wort when I don’t have time to brew. I take my saved yeasts that I can’t get, and make a small starter. It keeps it active and healthy for when I do brew.

    Planning first Belgian (golden strong ale)... what to do after fermentation?

    I’ve brewed quite a few Belgians. IMO bottle conditioning is the only way to go. I’ve split my batches several times. I always prefer the conditioned portion. The keg just doesn’t develop the same way. I’ve saved many 750ml bottles and that’s what I use. I carb to 3+ volumes.

    I found that when I’m in a rut, stop going to the range. When my game is off, the range dooms me. My rhythm gets off and I start swinging too hard. I thought I’d play once a week this summer. I’ve played about 10 rounds. Still love the game even when I’m playing poorly.

    Extra IC coil cooling.

    I just put a submersible pump into a kid pool w ice water. Chill w tap, then switch it over. Works great and can knockout 20g pretty fast. I use a stainless CFC from Stout. I whirlpool in the kettle and leave as much break as possible behind. Works well for me anyway.
